Hi, new to forum & have a question regarding my Xone 92

I'm trying to control some of the parameters of the KP3 via MIDI with my Xone 92 but I'm finding it extremely difficult. I know that the Xone 92 has limited capabilities but I'm not getting a response at all from the KP3. I can set it to read an external clock (that of my Xone) but it is not doing so. Every where that I've searched states that it should be a straight forward procedure but this is not the case for me. I've purchased both items brand new & I'm starting to think that there may be a fault with one of them.

Can somebody help please?
