EMX-1 MIDI Controller in Fl Studio?
Followed all of the instructions Fl has in its manual, downloaded the Korg MIDI USB driver for windows, all with no response when I turn knobs on the EMX-1. I'm using a USBtoMIDI cable...bought off ebay from Hong Kong for extremely cheap...but windows still recognizes it. Is there something I'm missing??? Thank you!
The EMX has no USB so you don't need the KORG USB-MIDI Driver. It is your interface/cable that is connected by USB so you only need the drivers for that.
MIDI is just a standard set of commands and messages issued over a simple serial interface so there is no drivers or even recognition involved - e.g. to use your EMX you would simply select the port on your interface/cable that it is connected to.
Also, I don't know which cable you have but a lot of people will at first connect it the wrong way around - thinking they are designed for interfacing a single piece of gear and so connecting the cable that says 'IN' to the synth's MIDI In and the 'OUT' to the MIDI out. However, the cable is actually an 'interface' so the labels are in reference to the computer - 'IN to the computer' and 'OUT of the computer', so you need to connect IN to MIDI OUT and vice versa.
Also make sure you have the cable/interface selected as an input port somewhere in your software (FL Studio). You might also want to check the EMX MIDI filter to see that it is not blocking out CC (controller) messages or whatever kind of messages are related to what you are trying to do with it.
