Post by reddone »

Here is my latest venture into odd-time signature beats .
Im happy with how it turned out , though it was a struggle at times ...

Its not going to be everyones taste in music .. but have a listen & see maybe . if you like breaks / drums / idm or anything .. its maybe your thing .

AND ..... for the first time EVER on internet , my face can be seen !! LOL

Thanks if you listen .

You see this is really the kind of electronic music I'd like to hear more often, reminds me of Download (great band if you haven't listened to them, or him). By the way, when working with odd-time signatures how do you apply the "last step" function?, or better yet what are the benefits for using this tool? 'Cause I haven't seemed to find much use for it but some people have told me that it can be quite useful, especially for weird intros and other beat breaking changes.

thanks mate , pleased there's someone who appreciates sumthing odd / different .

It was actually the last song you posted that inspired me to do the tune .
Basically i have about 3 longer patterns going on , and 4-5 very short ones ( 2 steps - 4 steps long ) . Puttiing them together is like a puzzle and you can get strange / intersting sequences .

Some of the song patterns .

Example : d.22 = 14-steps pattern , 111.6 bpm , beat - 16 , lengths - 4

d.16 = 2-steps pattern , 111.6 bpm , beat-16 , lengths - 2

d.17 = 3-steps pattern , 111.6 bpm , beat 16 , lengths- 3

d.18 = 6 steps pattern , 111.6 bpm , beat 16 , lengths- 1

d.19 = 12 steps pattern , 111.6 bpm , beat 16 , lengths- 2

d.21 = 6 steps pattern , 111.6 bpm , beat 16 , lengths - 5

d.22 = 14 steps pattern , 111.6 bpm , beat 16 , lengths- 4

Some of the pattens i worked into the song .
As you can see , a changing step range is usefull ... and also in "regular" time music . sets of 1 , 2 , 4, 8 , 16 steps can be used to great effect if sequenced correctly . try it & upload a demo !!

yeh , thanks .. i was thinkin that myself after listening again today .

Ive got it in song mode so i'll just keep adding stuff & see where i can take it .
Mostly its an experiment of stitching up smaller parts but i may as well work on it more .

Thanks for comment . Appreciated as always
