Hard Shell Case for the X50 !

Post by hand solo »

you people have been so helpful to me..just wanted to share this..

have seen some Qs on this forum and i have done a pretty extensive search for a good case..even a nice-fitting gig bag for my X50.

i had an old standard Strat / Tele hard shell case, and it works great for this..
the length is almost perfect without any extra padding /support.

for the X50 to fit snug front to back, i made a couple of blocks out of 2" styrofoam and covered them with a velour -type fabric that exactly matches the guitar case interior.

the original inner-case supports for the guitar were fastened with a couple of small nails and easily removed.

there's even room at the front of the case for a cable, the power supply, damper pedal, etc.

(sorry, tried to attach a pic of it but wouldn't work)

BTW, just got a Triton Extreme for the sampling, but not about to get rid of the X50..hell of a board at 9 pounds, plus editing on the Mac is awesome..

still waiting for the Triton Extreme Mac editor !

I for one think that it's about time that keyboard players had an all around keyboard that is as portable as our fellow musician's(guitar and bass players especially). My bass player gave me an old generic electric bass/guitar case and I also pulled the guts out, added new foam and the X-50 fit like a charm. Cheap case, but it has protected the X-50 perfectly.
(Although I wouldn't dare flying with it like that.)

Do you want a light and functional hard case for our great light and small x-50??

Buy a hard plastic case made for rifles (I bought one for 50 $) and you'll see it seems engeneered exactly for the x-50. You just have to cut the foam inside to the desired size.

Watch out.....police could stop you to see which gun you have inside :D

a gun/rifle case was one of the first considerations..but club owners and

patrons get a little 'uneasy' when you carry one into a gig....

especially if you whip out the Camoflage X50!!!!

Reminds me of a incident I once almost had. My job sent me down to Monticello for a few days where the president was going to speak and I thought about bringing a keyboard with me for those nights in the hotel room but didn't. Well when I woke up the next morning and went down for breakfast I noticed that there was a bunch of guys at breakfast with keyboard cases which surprised me until I realized they weren't keyboard cases but were rifle cases and the "keyboard players" were secret service snipers. There is no doubt that if I had bought my "keyboard case" with me that I would have been tackled and "detained".
My next case for the X50 will nonetheless definitely be a rifle case.

Hey musicaldoc, would you happen to have a link for that $50 hard plastic case?

Hi zuskywalker....sorry but I took the rifle case here in Italy from a friend of mine who loves rifles and made me me pay actually 50 Euros, which should be aprox 70 $.

I'll try to figure out which brand and model it is.

Sorry for the mistake Euros-Dollars

that's actually the BEST idea for an X50 case I've heard yet!
I checked out ebay and there's a load of them for REALLY cheap, perfect size too.
Thanks.
