Another improvement is when using the incr/decr buttons when the tempo box is selected. Now it changes the value by +/- 0.01. So 90.00 BPM increases to 90.01. An increase to 91 would make more sense.

The stereo multi mode filter (and probably a lot of other effects) should have logarithmic values for the frequency parameters instead of linear.

When using the lowpass filter in this effect, only the first couple of values are usable because the frequency gets too high too soon.

In fact, a new 18dB/oct stereo hipass filter effect would be really nice to have - with a easily tunable cutoff frequency.

I'll add yet another feature request.

How about a page with user defined text to be displayed for each combination. This page could be used for chords and/or lyrics.

Even a page in media mode to browse plain text files would be nice. Then we can store tabs and crd files on the sd-card and reference them when needed.

Another suggestion

Post by gdverm »

How about a simpler way to transpose the whole combi/prog. (Forgive me if this is easy to do, but I haven't discovered it yet)

Regularly our singers want to "try it up or down a half a step", and transposing to Eb in my head causes my brain to overheat.

Whilst some of the operations on the M50 could, in my opinion, be made easier..... this isn't one of them.

I can't see how it could possibly be made any simpler.

(FYI - press 'Global', touch 'key transpose', adjust pitch using up/down buttons).

I transpose up and down all the time, and I have no trouble using the current design. But I'd love to skip the 'write global settings' step in the change process.

A lock for the tuning frequency parameter above would also be nice, since I often see that I have somehow managed to edit this parameter without intention.

I think he means while performing. The Korg PA series have octave up/down buttons that let you "virtually extend" the keybed on the fly. Would be nice, but since my combis are very complex, sometimes I have three sounds at the same time (and more on velocity) and on the same octave range, so I have to transpose up the lower key zone and down the upper key zone, it doesn't make much sense to my particular use.

Martin, I think he was referring to semi-tone steps rather than octaves...

... and to transpose in "half-steps" surely couldn't be any easier that it already is?

Easy transpose

Post by gdverm »

I must have missed that part of the Tutorial DVD. Oh wait, there isn't one.

When easy tasks like this get lost in the User's manual (please don't respond with the page #), a tutorial DVD would . . . well, nuff said.

BTW - Thanks for the directions. As you can tell, I'm still learning the board.

Thanks folks,

My suggestions:

1. "Progs/combis not changing instantly when you press the button (or pedal) whilst, for example, holding a chord". About this, I REALLY need the instant change I have in my X2. When I am in my X2, performance or combis don't change instantly, but programs do. In my M50, neither change instantly (at least, when I hold the sound with a sustain pedal, holding manually the chord works). This is actually a regression.

2. "Have the numbered buttons (1 thro' 0) assignable as 'favourite' voices (as on the X50)". That's really needed. In the X2 all programs are available with 3 keypresses; in the M50, there are a lot more, and we need to access those sounds.

3. (Here comes my pet one): Use the Chord Assign buttons to change on the fly your drum pattern. I imagine that I can program 4 drum pattern changes, that is more than enough for the music I'm playing. Please, give me the chance to change drum patterns with one button ;)

I realise I didn't make a very good job of trying to explain what I meant here - so I'll have another go!!!

If you had this feature as an option, you could sustain a chord, eg: using the pedal, and press for your next program change so
that prog/combi doesn't change the chord you are sustaining - it only becomes active the next time you play the keys.

Hope that makes it a bit clearer? :?

That's they way it works on PA arrangers. Why is so difficulty to do on workstations? It's beyond me. :?

I was shocked that there isn't a Hold balance -action in Seq mode! I use song files when operating live performances so that the next song is the next sound.
I usually just copy the Combis the way they are but sometimes you need to lower or rise the volume of the Combi and it takes a quite a bit of time to change every volume control separately for each track.

So I require a hold balance button! :)

Yet another suggestion for improvement. Separate volume control after each IFX.
