Is it possbile to add new voices in M 50

The M50 is marketed as a "performance" workstation. It is not a traditional workstation with sampling, but it does have a sequencer, and at a very reasonable price.

The SD card is there for data transfer and saving progs, combis, songs etc. There are no expansion options - which keeps the price down.

If you want expansion options and sampling, you need to buy the M3 or any other sampling workstation

thanks fifthelement, I see you own it, would you recommend it to an x50 user? I want a good upgrade, but $$$ IS A HUGE MATTER!!!!

I have swapped the X50 for an M50 because I really wanted to have a Sequencer. Another feature I have come to appreciate a lot is the Drumtrack - that sure is a lot of fun. As far as sounds are concerned, the M50 has a lot more to offer when it comes to natural intruments (ac pianos, epianos, ac and e-guitars, brass, woodwinds etc.) If, however, you like the X50's synth sounds (and combis) and don't need a built in sequencer and/or realistic natural instrument sounds, I would consider keeping it and invest the extra money into something else to expand your setup (VA? --> R3?).

This is just my personal opinion, of course.

Oh I almost forgot: Buying the M50 will give you an effect section that is way superior to that of the X50!!!

well, now that you mention it, I WAS looking for better piano sounds and better elec guitars!! I'll do my best to get my hands on this baby!!

Fernando, get the M50 and don't look back. It's worth it just for the touch screen and drum track feature. I had the X50 for 2 years and haven't missed it for a second since unloading it. Not saying it's bad, not at all. The weight for playing out was awesome as were the sounds in general but the very simple tweaking of sounds via the touch screen on the m50 make it a no brainer. The sequencer is as friendly as they come and again, the Drum Tracks are excellent

The piano sounds (and the RH3 keybed) are one of the main reasons I went for my 1st Korg since the M1. There are a lot of them, they are varied and cut through well when playing live.

The elec guitars are some of the most realistic I've heard - always a difficult sound to get right on a ROMpler keyboard. I've used them in my band and our sound guy couldn't tell the difference between the M50 and the "real" guitarist!

If pianos and elec guitars (not many acoustics on the M50) are your priority you can't go wrong. As a bonus, organs and EPs are pretty good too.

Only my opinion, but I would say that no-one can match Korg when it comes to
these types of sounds
