NEED GUIDANCE...

Post by M1KORG »

Mods, sorry this is in the wrong place....

Ok, I play the drums and when its comes to keyboards and such I'm a total noob....So bear with me here...

Well, I've done a ton of research on the M1 Korg workstations since i took it out of its 18 year hibernation, and it seems i have a nice a nice piece of equipment in mint condition on my hands...

So....I would really like to use it to its full potentional.

Now.....my goal at some point in the future is to start a band. I'm looking to play heavy/gothic/dark/whatever metal music (theres so many different names, dont even want to get into that)

So....I want to find cool sounds related to the music i want to play. Things like creaky doors, church bells, thunder, screams, wind noises etc. I dont exactly what yet, But I want to experiment. Can i find those sounds already made, or do i have to somehow create them myself?

I dont know where to start! All these terms are new to me. I want to be able to hook the M1 to my computer and transfer sounds, edit, experiment etc.

Maybe theres another forum better suited for my questions? Please give me any links, suggestions anything you can. thanks

ohhh btw i found this....any good?

Hello.

Really then what your looking for is a Sampler. The M1 doesn't have one built in and other than trying to locate some PCM cards for it, your options are very limited when it comes to Screaming, Doors and other SFX.

A second hand AKAI S6000 or S5000 would be ideal.

Or....sell the M1 and buy a Triton Extreme.
Nope... there's thousands of free sounds in the download section here at KORG Forums.

Regards.
Sharp.
