Sharp

I've installed the package. The programs are extremely strong. You're world class and an incredibly talented sound designer, no doubt about it. There needs to be a new Emoticon - bowing to the master.

The pads, voices and atmospheres are absolutely incredible - to give others a sense of them - they are up there with Omnisphere; at least on a par but IMO mostly stronger than comparable presets on the OASYS, M3 or Fantom.
Many others stand out:
The 'Jump' poly sound is brilliant - bang on - absolutely love it. The choice of Celtic and Irish flutes and whistles is huge - and they all sound wonderfully full and rich - absolutely gorgeous and very authentic when playing in their correct range (and when played low make a Fairlight sound like a Casio).

The 5 layer CP80 is exquisitely cleanly sampled. It sounds incredibly smooth - different to Karo but will wonderfully compliment it. My only comment here is that it's a little dark at low velocities - but that's a personal thing and I have little experience at an actual CP80 so this may be as it really is.

There are buckets of excellent electric pianos - one of them (92- Smooth Electric Piano) is so velocity responsive - it's very unique, I've never heard an electric piano like that and I am confident I'll use it a lot.

Crystal chimes - the best chimes program I've heard since Silverlake on the EX5 (using FDSP 'water' effect)

Synthbrass - the best synth brass program I've ever heard by a long way - phew! Seriously good and addictive to play – I love it.

It's like you get a new OASYS. The bottom line is - I now have an entirely new sound to my OASYS and virtually every program is magnificent and usable. Especially the pads and atmospheric programs – they are huge and awesome yet are playable. I'm not doing them adequate justice here. Overall, a very worthwhile set of programs and I’m absolutely delighted with this addition to my arsenal.

As with Karo - I wish you would package this in one of two other ways to optimise OASYS RAM, given you have to remove all other RAM samples to install yours (in the long run and I’d be prepared to pay an upgrade fee):

- Offer a compressed samples version so that the entire package takes up less RAM:

- Offer subsets as separate installs . Yours I believe would work in this way, offering perhaps separate sample/PCG loads for:

- Voices
- Pads
- Atmospheres
- Electric pianos
- Acoustic pianos
- Irish flutes and whistles
- Synth sounds

That said, these are programs that sound as rich as typical combis, so they can so easily be inserted into composing projects without compromising effects and track counts - so they are incredibly flexible as is.

To other readers – I do not know Sharp so my opinions here are my own. I reviewed the sounds on Sennheiser HD650 headphones (where every program sounds out of this world) and on Byerdynamic passive monitors through a Quad 520F amp.

Cheers,
Kevin.

PS - The title of this release is totally appropriate !

Thanks for that solid review, Kevin. I can't wait.

Sharp,
Is there any possibility for an FTP transfer/download to install with USB media?
Cheers,
Eric

I just sent my wife an email, with the OASYS Assault link. I suggested that it would make for a nice Christmas present.

Start hitting up the nightclubs, boy! Even a newly acquired girlfriend is receptive to gift giving. You still have 3 weeks, till Christmas.

Thanks a million Kevin for that review. I'm so happy to see you really like the sounds. Makes all the hard work worth while for sure.

Would you mind if I used your text as a review ?

Kind Regards.

Sharp -

You are more than welcome - a great package indeed. Re. quoting - of course - opinions here are in the open and in the public domain - quote (and misquote) away!!

I read a brilliant book a few years ago called "Ruthless Self Promotion in the Music Industry". It was fantastic and of course full of common sense and not ruthless at all. And - believe it or not it worked - I followed the guys 'recipe' to pull in documentary jobs and it worked - within a few months I had a few documentaries to my name. But he said one thing that always stuck out - when promoting your work - "Lie to the verge of criminality".

Handy tip!!

(or course none of us here would ever dream of doing that)
:^o

Thanks again for your really excellent package - I'm thoroughly delighted with it.

Kevin.

Hi Eric.

Sorry, I'd love to say yes but our host would blow a fuse. KORG Forums is sitting on what is Irish Acts server, so I can't take the extra load at this point. We still didn't solve KORG Forums problems and the need for a dedicated server, although a plan is in place.

The DVD is far nicer to have anyway, and the postage is quick enough. It's worth the wait for snail mail. :-)

Kind Regards.

Mike? I am very surprised...You live with your wife, you make nice video explaining the Oasys, and, to speak with your wife, or ask for a present, do you really need to communicate with the Internet.

web meaning WeedingEmbarastBrother?????

a simple real kiss would not be better? or, under the pillow, that is an excellent place to ask for something.....Maybe I am too old :D

Oh, I kiss and coddle my wife regularly, but that won't make her remember the OASYS Assault link. She checks her email, everyday; the choice is a click away. :D

I did the same the first of December.
I hope she will get it

The title is superb.
Great work, James, as usual.
Thanx and regards.
