Transpose Automation Recording Wrong in Ableton

Hi, I have the following problem:

I tried to use my keyboard connected via midi to automate Polysix's transpose parameter, I assigned a midi key range of about 5 octaves to the transpose and used about 2 octaves to manipulate the sound. It plays fine when I'm playing in session view, manipulating the parametre live, however when I record the track in arg. view and do exactly as I do when playing live, the transpose values automated are about 2 or 3 times more in number than the keys I press on the keyboard. Say:
If I press the keys corresponding 24, 19 and 17 values in order, the resulting automation goes like 24, 22, 18, 16, 12 etc. Not even the values I press.

I'm new to the tool and I'm trying to figure out by myself mostly, so I haven't gone through much training. I'm sure I'm doing something wrong but what I don't get is why it sounds as I want it to when playing in session view BUT not when I record it.
