Hi:
I have just joined the forum, having recently purchased a TR88. This is my first keyboard and I am finding it pretty intimidating to operate beyond the basic function of playing a single program.
I play rock and blues music with a few guitarists and initially would like to add some programs with the sound of a Hammond B3 organ to the existing banks, and I need a lot of help with this. I have a SD card to transfer programs from my computer to the TR, but beyond that, I am not sure what to do.
I checked out the kidnepro@mac.com website and saw their Screamin' B3s programs, which consist of a wide variety of B3 sounds. The site says however that:
'Our new sounds are also compatible with the Korg TR Series synths including the TR61, TR76 and TR88. The sounds can be imported into the TR Series. However there is "limited" compatibility. Only Insert effect 1 is loaded, the other four are ignored.'
I asked Kid Nepro what this meant, and this is what he said:
'The problem with importing Triton sounds is that the effects do not all transfer over since you can have up to five insert effects in the Triton and only one in the TR series. This can affect some sounds more then others depending on the kind of sound your trying to reproduce. In the case of the organs the leslie effect that we programmed to be triggered via the joystick will not work in many cases since it's not programmed on the first insert effect. That's just one example. but the bottom line is that you will have to do some tweaking to the effects in order to get things to sound as intended.'
Has anyone tried out this sound package on the TR series, and how satisfied were you with the programs?
I have no idea how to 'tweak' the effects as suggested by Kid Nepro. Is this going to be a problem for a newbie? How do I go about this tweaking?
Do I have any alternative program packages that will be better for reproduction of Hammond B3 sounds?
My next questions have to do with the transfer of programs into the TR88:
1. How do I make a complete back-up of my program and combination banks (please be very specific)?
2. Is it possible to back-up individual banks or programs rather than the entire program/combination package?
3. Can I transfer single programs or combinations without needing to overwrite an entire bank.
4. I have a 2 gigabyte SD card. The manual says that it supports up to a 1 gig card. Can I still use the 2 gig card? If so, do I have to format it to a 1 gigabyte capcity?
I'll probably have more questions later. Thanks for your patience and help. The forum looks like a great site. My confidence level is pretty low right now, but hopefully in time I will be able to appreciate the depth of information available.

When you get that first pro keyboard you're not, just sitting down and making music, you've got this learning curve hump to get over first.

Made a video tutorial that will make you live easier.
1.My tip Master eq settings in seq mod, (song mode)
600hz q=2 g=-6db clear lower mid
2. MFX2 I use for Reverb. MFX1 chorus=for electric pianos or what ever effect for a particular sound.
3. Insert effect I keep for EQ,
EXAMPLE
Electric Piano Low end interferes with Kick and bass so;
7:ST Para.4EQ 120hz q=1 g=-15db (gain may vary)
A Particular background Guitar in this track only! Sounded better with the same eq, (both instruments now share aux effect amount)
so it was routed that through also.
On some songs I don’t need it, others I do, it’s really down to the song.
I’ve also edited all the preloads so the master eq =0
And the insert effect is not doing any unnecessary eq(ing), that way I know how the instruments will truly sound in seq mode,
(There’s only 1 insert effect, save it for when you really need it)
Good luck bro
