Bought a Korg R3 need help with scale tuning, Please

Post by Varand »

hey guys it's great to be here, I just bought a Korg R3 to complement my D-50 and and Pa800 but I can't figure out the scale tuning. I read the manual and spent nearly 2 hours on the keyboard itself looking for it. I need user scales for 1/4 tone, similar to an Arabic scale, if anyone know how it's one please tell me. thank you

I don't think r3 has a tuning scale parameter. I searched the manual and it doesn'thave anything about scale...

thanks for the reply, I was afraid so. That's a very bad move by Korg, I was hoping that this R3 would be like the MS-2000 but it's not. I'm still hoping for someone out there to look into the scale tuning possibilities. It's very important for me live performances, otherwise I have to but a scale box.

Your not talking about the master tune are you? Dial position P-40 first knob "Mst Tune". Global settings can be saved as to to affect all banks. The only other thing I can find with a 1/4th setting is Mod Sequneces P-26/27, far right knob "resolution" can be dialed to 1/4.

You may be able to achieve this by using the virtual patch.

The R3 is not so much like the MS2k, as it is more like the Microkorg in terms of operational features. the Radias is closer to the MS2k in terms of operational features.

If you patch the keytrack to pitch, you can achieve a different scaling but you will need to experiment with the amount of modulation.

If you need a non-western scale tuning, then that should be at the top of your list when buying a keyboard. You're wasting your time with the R3. The Radias supports user scale setting, but the R3 doesn't.

The MicroKORG XL also supports scale tuning. If you can get past the small keys you'll find it to be a more than suitable and cheaper alternative to the R3.

hmmm

IMHO answering posts that are 1.5 years old doesn't makes any sense
