Upgrading Radias to v2 - USB-Midi Issue

Post by reidlowe »

Hey gang,

First, I am totally enjoying my rig with an M3 ganged to a Radias...but I've got an issue and thought I'd reach out to the experts here as I can't find a support email for Korg :-(

I'm no slouch in computers, having been a long time employee at the huge giant here in Redmond and had a studio with computer since 1987...so most things computer don't slow me down, but I'm having an issue with the latest USB-Midi driver.

I downloaded the v2 updater and the latest 1.11 USB-Midi driver, installed the driver first, powered up the Radias, got everyone recognized and thought I was ready to go. I brought up the updater, it has no idea about the korg USB-Midi driver.

Now I'm reluctant to reboot, but did so and no joy. So I went into the Control Panel, Sounds and Audio, scrolled down to the Karma driver and dug into the properties...it shows installed, but not functioning properly with the two button dialogue screen with "no text". This is typical of a corrupted driver...sooooo I removed, reinstalled...same issue.

Seems there's an issue (I think) with the latest driver on XPSP2...anyone have any success with this? I may try my Vista machine next, but seriously, shouldnt have to.

I also tried to use the Radias editor...it doesnt see the Radias either...I'll play with it more tonight...but no joy this morning.

thanks

not sure what your exact problem is, but i have SP2, and have been running the drivers fine. in fact i use my radias as my prefered USB MIDI interface.

i found that sometimes it does help to try the 'install Korg USB MIDI device' utility to ensure all the ports are there propperly. have you tried this?

I had this problem on 3 different computers running Win XPSP2. I finally gave up and hooked the Radias to my laptop via MIDI (Midisport UNO).
