Difference between iMacs

Post by EJ2 »

Greetings all,
I'm toying with the idea of getting into a Mac. Not being up to stats with the latest iMacs, I thought I would ask here. Other than the physical differences (plastic vs aluminum, no border vs black border etc.), what are the main differences between the last two versions of the core 2 duo iMacs? For example, what is the processing power differences for a 2.0 former model vs 2.0 black border model. Hope someone understands what I mean.
Cheers,
Eric

I think the difference is in the chips, the former Core Duo had no problem, but with the new Core2Duo some people is having problems with those named Santa Rosa , things like : Weird behavior, incompatibility with software/hardware,noises,etc. I read somewhere that installing an app called "Coolbook" or "Cookbook" helps with this.
I have a 1 year old Macbook Pro (CD),2.16Ghz,2Gb ram,OSX Tiger (Leopard is still buggy for my programs) and it works great...no problems at all...it likes my Electribes and KP3.
Go Mac all the way...you won't regret. :D
Regards.
P.S.You get more info...at www.ableton.com in the users forum

Hi EJ2.

I just wanted to let you know that I've just purchased the new iMac as soon as it was released in September.

I have had the earlier iMac (white) but with PowerPC processors. Of course, the difference is huge.

So far, I've had no problems with the new iMac. It's quite fast. I've also had the Macbook wtih the same processor as my iMac and it has also been a great laptop with some RAM upgrade.

I'd totally recommend it. It's fast and reliable. And as Willie mentioned, You won't regret a Mac.

Go for it and let me know if you need anymore help, I'm also member on the apple forums.

Cheers!
