using a midi foot controller with the rack

Post by audioshockandawe »

Hello. I am trying to determine the best (and cheapest!) way to use a midi foot controller to act like an organ foot pedal and play notes in real time with the rack and my M-Audio 88es. If anyone has any advice on this, please let me know. Thanks!

audioshockandawe,

Most of the Roland midi foot controllers have a "NOTE MODE" which will sent note data through its MIDI out instead of "PROGRAM CHANGE" data. This will do what you want.

Download and look at the manual for the Roland FC200 MIDI Foot Pedal from the Roland site. Look up the NOTE MODE on page 16.

Analog: Korg Mono/Poly, DSI Prophet '08
Digital: Kurzweil SP88, Yamaha DX11, Kawai K4, Korg MS2K & MS2KR, Yamaha AN1x
Modules: Triton Rack (7 EXB Boards and MOSS), Roland U220, E-Mu 2K,

So much gear... So little time!!!
