PA-800 Version 2 wishlist

Post by greenkidd »

OK, I love this keyboard. Now I would like to hear ideas for future features. I have only a couple.

1.)A true onboard chord sequencer

2.)More contemporary styles, Reggae, Trance, Alt Country, etc. The ability to morph styles.

3.)Groove quantize better implemented or integrated into sequencer.

I'm not asking for much. :)

thanks
Brian

A lot of stuff, they know that dont worry, they just ignore it.
There is many topics here on what needs to be fixed.
I'd rather stay with the stuff already is in it but to work properly.
KORG has the habit of stucking inside HALFWORKING features.
So please lets not ask them for more features cuz they will give it
to us but only half working, now they might put some TRUMPET MODE
but it might sound like a SAX.

4.)I also would like to see a way to have lyrics autoscroll with MP3.

5.)Chord sequencer AGAIN!!

6.)3rd party styles.

I'm glad your amused. What is your request? "I need a better trumpet". "The sax sound like a trumpet but looks like a sax". "We need better pictures of trumpets".

I would also like to have the ability to send current programs settings of Styles to external sequencer.

You haven't once pointed out what features AREN'T working for you. All the features they have included do work for me. I'm talking about features I'd like to see in the future. Since I don't have a problem with existing features it is natural to suggest more.

A trumpet mode is a good example of something we do not need. We need more useful features for live entertainers and songwriters.

very very true Nedim... greenkid - forget all... just look at your number of posts here on the forum 23... look at Nedim 1609 [at this point of time] ... most of which had been generated in trouble shooting... so listen to what he says...

yes indeed, pa800 is a great keyboard but needs a lot many things, already present, to be fixed elegantly....

Hi Raul and Greenkidd,

Please see the sticky threads on Pa800 and Pa2x posted by Paolo Tramannoni from Korg.

There has recently been a huge list of features added "free of charge" by Korg to the Pa800. You can see all the changes if you compare the OS1.5 documentation and release notes with the OS1.0 manual. After this many new features, we all need a period of stability during which problems are ironed out. Every time a new feature is added to any operating system there is instability for a time. Look at the Micksoft Windoze track record. I'll not be upgrading from XP to Vista for at least a year because I want other people to sort the problems out first.

So I agree with Nedim. You asked for a list - all the following need fixing before consideration is given to "new features":

a) A way of easily clearing SSD User memory and GLOBAL memory settings (like the Intro1 OS reload on the Pa1x).

b) Diagnose and fix the problem that causes SSD memory corruption when sampling.

c) Fix the "local off" bug that fails to mute the Pa2x sound generator when you are using an external MIDI setup.

d) Work out why the Pa2x sounds "dead" compared with the Pa1x when playing the same sounds and styles. Fix the sounds, samples, FX, default settings whatever.

e) Lock GLOBAL memory as default, to prevent accidental memory corruption when loading .SET files backed up from a different machine or an earlier OS. Also, no longer allow GLOBAL subfolders to be created within a .SET file. Use the .GBL file type as a stand alone file only. Ignore any GLOBAL directories found within a .SET file if the user tries to Load the whole .SET file in one go.

Nedim has reported more "bugs" in other threads as well. In his business (Basari Studios) he is a sound producer and produces many excellent commercial styles and sounds for almost every keyboard on the market. His contributions and free gifts given to this forum are extremely helpful. Look at the number of posts to the forum he has made, and search for the hints and tips he's contributed.

So I hope forum members can respect Nedim's comments and advice even when he's occasionally impatient with us :-)

Best regards,
Rob
