Selecting better default midi instruments

Post by Reuben »

Can someone help me with Instrument selection.
I'm finding mostly that the General Midi Instruments are fairly ordinary sounding and there are usually far better ones to be found.
Is there a way to automatically select the better sounds when playing a midi file or alternatively is there a list of recommended sounds to switch to??
Best,
John

Even though they are called INTELIGENT or SMART ARRANGERS i dont think
they can be that smart to sellect and know which instruments sounds better
then the other, that something technology will never achieve...thats our
brains work.

Nedim, Is there any way of assigning a program bank and program number to a user patch or are these hard coded?? (was thinking about this myself a couple of months ago)
