In a nutshell, I'm pretty new to Logic and am trying to set up a workflow with my Electribe MX. (Which is running through my Firewire 410.) I've flipped through the manuals for both, each confusing in their own special ways. I've scoured the internet, and there doesn't seem to be much out there in regards to people using these together. Midi Quest apparently doesn't support the EMX either, so that's no help.
So far, I've managed to create a multi-instrument for the Electribe, activated the six subchannels, and created tracks for the five synth parts and the drum part. Gravy. According to the transport window and MIDI Monitor, everything is coming in on the right channels. But I can't seem to record any MIDI data. (Also, there doesn't seem to be any way to arm MIDI tracks except by selecting them. It's not possible to record to more than one track simultaneously?

Another issue is that Logic seems to be taking the EMX for a control surface. For example, any time I adjust the level on any track on the EMX, whatever track I have selected in Logic's volume will change accordingly. Same deal on playback. If there is motion sequencing, it will affect the track I have selected, and not the appropriate synth part in the case of level/pan/etc. or channel 1 in the case of FX and so on.
If anyone has any suggestions, can point me somewhere helpful, or better yet, can just send me a Logic session or environment that I can just play with, I would be much obliged.
