I used my Volca's (+ monotribe) to make a kinda analog electribe, I use a EMX1 and a 1 to 4 midi splitter. Assigned the Beats to the drum section, Monotribe CH1, VolcaBass, CH2 and the keys for CH 3 – 5 …. For poly I know it’s tedious to program chords note by note … but I like that aspect of making ...

Defiantly replace the tubes regardless! I got those JJ Hi-Performance Gold Pin ones .. I run my tube gain at almost maximum all the time and really enjoy the tone they add. I’ve had intermittent audio loss, fuzzy audio etc and got the outputs replaced by a local electronics tech (cost about $150) ...

Yip, they are defiantly out in Japan just got back from a tour with the whole set. BUT they were hard to find! I brought them in three different cities and it was always the last one in stock, if they had any left at all. …. I do think they’re worth the wait though!!! Exceeded any expectations I had ...

I've got two Smart media EMX one's 110V (Japanese) and ones 240v (New Zealand) I live in New Zealand (240V) and that one gets pretty warm. The 110v via a step down transformer doesn't get as warm ... but they'd be only slightly warmer then anything else in my rig. As for the noise I've never heard ...

I had volume drops on the right hand side on the EMX and anything I panned to the right was considerably lower then the left via all outs I took it to my local fix it guy he fixed it pretty quick and said it had some dry solders and was pretty dirty, its second hand unit and it travels a lot in road ...

BOOM! .. what Hofa said! if you want to get tricky you can pan drums left for channel 3 and right for channel 4 (once you've set those outputs)... don't know what your band is like but drummers sometimes want a different kinda rhythm to the guitarist type fellas or vice versa .... I use it this way ...

It’s always questions of preference or how you use the EMX isn’t it? I don’t like using samples I wouldn’t want to see the EMX with any sampling abilities or more PCM sounds, that’s what the ESX is; a sampler not a drum machine synth box. Hell I even like the sloppy sequencer it makes it feel real, r ...

I dunno I think KORG was heading down the right path with these kinda future/retro machines touch pads efx’s synths tube driven groove boxes cheap analogue devices etc. But Apps really? Is that the way to go? There’s more new apps everyday in perhaps what’s fast becoming a flooded market…. I’m sure w ...

Yup replace the tubes makes the biggest difference I swapped mine of for JJ Hi-Performance 12AX7 the lowend and mid range is it’s phenomenal. I feel I’ve kinda gone through a similar process with my gear, I'd fully recommend sending all the drums out 3/4. I pan the kick drum(s) hard left so output 3 ...
