Control microX pattern from controller
Anyone control microX patterns/arps/combis from an external controller/sequencer? If so, do you have any advice on how to set up the patch? On my Alesis Micron, this is what I do: 1. Turn off latch, because there is no way to control on/off with the pattern if the latch is on. 2. Remove the rhythm ...

MicroArranger: Lay down chords, then experiment with styles
MicroArranger Sequencer Question: Anyone know if you can lay down the chords for a song on the first take, then experiment with various styles and fills and such on subsequent takes? I sold my Yamaha PSR-3000, because it was pretty much just for live play, not studio song multi-track recording ...

microStation chord-assign buttons and user arps
A couple questions for any microStation owners... It has 4 chord-assign buttons, where you hold down the notes, then press a button to assign that chord, right? But they are not velocity sensitive like on the M3, right? You can make your own arps. But can you do that right on the board (real time or ...

I use the Alesis SR18 for bass and drums/percussion. I don't use the patterns and "chaining patterns into songs" features, so I cannot comment on those. I just use it for sound module, and it sounds great since it is stereo and has effects. You set 1 midi channel for bass, another channel for drums ...

Thanks for tip about Fantom G, I was not even looking at that board because I did not think it had chord assign on the pads. Looks like it does, except instead of just holding down some keys and pressing a pad to assign like on M3, you have to go into pad setup and select from list of chord symbols ...

I sent a question to Keith McMillen Support regarding their Midi Expander, to see if it would work to turn USB midi into traditional midi. If so, I know there are lots of folks who would like to take USB gear (nanoPad, nanoKey, etc.) that is for the PC using USB driver, and hook it up to other gear ...

MS2000: Capture the arpeggiator notes from midi out
Just got my MS2000R off Craigslist, yeah! Anyone know if you can capture the arpeggiator notes from midi out? It does not work on my Alesis Micron, that is, just the chords you are playing are sent on midi out, not all the actual notes and real-time controller stuff coming from the arp pattern. I am ...

I think it is strange that only Korg makes gear with chord-assign pads, and it appears Korg is abandoning them as well. The M3 has the 8 great velo-sensitive pads, but those did not make it to the Kronos. The M50 only has 4, and they are just buttons without velocity. That USB micro pad thing has ...

Gear with chord-assign pads and user-programmable arps
Anyone know of a piece of gear with chord-assign pads and user-programmable arp patterns? I don’t need all the features of the M3m. I pretty much just need to be able to record 2-8 measure midi licks, then turn those into an arp pattern, assign all the chords in my song to velocity-sensitive pads, ...

On my Ensoniq, you build up a song by recording several smaller full-channel/track sequences like intro, main1, main2, chorus, bridge, ending. Then you go into song mode and string the sequences together with repeats and such, and can also add more channels/tracks to the full song. Lastly you do the ...

Sorry, should have been more specific. I did not mean any of the KARMA GEs that do strumming, I mean where you assign chords to the pads, then hold down the pad and strum finger across ribbon and it plays the 6 “guitar strings” of the chord as finger moves across ribbon. Like RichF does in the M3 pro ...

Just thought I would mention that the 3-octave Alesis Micron is a nice VA board for the price. Sure it does not sound like an Access Virus TI, it has no slot for SD card or USB stick, and programming with 1 spin/click dial and tiny LCD is a pain - but it was only $300 USD new, sounds good, has 8 ...
