Thanks for the tip...however, the issue was something else. I found I have to press the CH ON button, then REC/PLAY for it to record. The MTC/MMC settings were good. Is there an upgraded operating system for these units. I have version 1

Yes, the Record button does flash, but no further action takes place; i.e. when I press the Play button to commence recording, it has no effect.
