idk if you solved this or not, but , just find some electronics lubricant and it will help.

when you say you bought a new transformer , do you mean an AC adaptor ?
I had a problem like this with my kp1. i thought i fried the whole thing, but as it turned out it was just the adaptor.

Does anyone know how easy it is to remove the knobs? i pulled a little on them and they dont seem to want to move at all.

I'm trying to remove everything because my slider is starting to gradually grind more and more.
