I was able to play around today with both the Microkorg and the R3. Both sounded pretty cool, I can't I really noticed a massive difference between them to be honest, although perhaps that's my uneducated ears talking - especially since I wasn't really trying to customise the sounds. Another thing I ...

I'm curious then, why is the XL so big? Or is the R3 just great at packing things into the space?

Thank you for your reply. As so Active speakers are def the best bet for me it seems from a space pov. And if the USB is for Midi only, that means that it doesn't give a specific advantage over the Microkorg non-XL - i.e. to get the same functionality one just needs to buy one of those 15 buck USB ...

Quick Qs re Microkorg and Speakers!

Hey, I'm going to order a Microkorg this week. At the moment I'm leaning towards the XL as it's 30 bucks more expensive but you get the extra polyphony and USB at the cost of the 'different' engine. One thing I don't have is good speakers, I currently have pretty standard Creative PC speakers. I was ...

Thanks a lot for the replies, I am most appreciative of your advice. So the Micron is that much more fully featured than the MicroKorg aye? Interesting. I actually only found out about it yesterday myself and had a little look and it seems interesting. I presume that the advice regarding the midi ...

Newbie question about midi/usb and all that stuff

Hey, I'm going to treat myself this xmas to a Roland SP-555 and was also going to get a Korg MicroKorg. I know that I can connect them together and to the computer but really don't know how all that stuff works and was hoping someone could just clear it up for me please. I'm imagining the best ...
