Oh man, such ignorance. This reminds me of some kid who writes a program in visual basic so thinks he doesn't have to study computer science to be a good programmer. The best hip-hop producers all have music theory knowledge. Timbaland, Scott Storch and Pharrell some of the hottest producers right ...

Audiophiles make me laugh man. They can't tell the difference between a half step and a whole step in a scale but they just swear they can tell the difference between cables on their stereo. Whatever though, if they want to stimulate the economy buying $500 dollar cables so they can listen to the ...

Fl Studio 8 and ESX-1 tutorial (french)
Here is a tutorial I saw on youtube for using esx-1 with Fl Studio. Nothing too mind blowing in here but if you have both might as well hook them up and see what it does. Unfortunately the text on the video is in french but the video shows everything. Part 1 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v ...

Yeah, actually I got one of those akai mpd midi pads that I hook up to fruity loops and it's basically same as mpc but I can store, slice and load the samples all from the computer. And since fruity loops already has a step sequencer I never bother to use the esx. For me at least the "workflow" or ...

Yeah, actually I think it has to do with genres and also maybe region. I think groovebox devices (maybe step sequencer is better) could be more popular for European genres. I mean things like jungle, DnB, Dubstep, etc. all those kind of styles don't have a big following in America and maybe the step ...

That's good to know. Now is there a way to move around the slices samples after you slice them on the step keys? Slicing the sample right onto the keys is so fast compared to loading a bunch of pre-sliced pieces onto midi pads but after you slice them you can't move them around! That's why I keep ...

At first I didn't think it would matter much but for hip-hop it's like no matter what drums you use after a while everything sounds sort of stiff with this kind 16-step thing. I suppose for songs that get directly mixed into each other like trance or house this is actually a good thing but on hip ...

I'm not saying grooveboxes are necessarily a bad thing. It's just the guy was asking about an updated all-in-one kind of thing. I'm just saying once you add too many features too a groovebox it's going to end up like a low-end workstation and will probably cost similar. Like if you combine the emx ...

Haha, that greenlightatlanta guy has a demo of the emx where he's like "i mean it's not just a flashy board with flashing lights and cool looking knobs" *voice trails off* "it's going to be around for a while". *looks away from the camera* It's like dude I hope you don't work in music shop cuz you ...

It's pretty easy to define a musician. A musician is a person who makes music, be it banging coconuts together or rocking out on a violin or a circuit bent baby toy. If you can make something pleasant for the ears you are a musician. While I suppose Thelonious Monk and a guy banging a coconut are ...

If you already have a DAW as you say I'm not really sure what the ESX is going to bring to the table...I'm still trying to figure out what an ESX can do that Fruity Loops can't other than wasting an hour loading samples via 128 meg flash card...I just can't get into it. Maybe it can be useful as a ...
