Yeah, I've had OS 2.0 for a while now, and I'm not sure KORG is working actively on any issues regarding sync - at least, I haven'[t seen any recent activity. My feeling is that it is not a feature they can fix easily without re-designing the basics of their sync engine, which apparently is based on ...

I don't need to re-read the thread. In addition to having a photographic memory, I also have this thread and its replies backed up in triplicate on redundant servers around the world and a GoogleAlert each time something new is posted because it's so relevant, accurate and intriguing. I also have a ...

actually, XMLguy implied that rodent didn't know how to use his guy. So rodent called the comment "idiotic." Then, XMLguy implied that Rodent didn't know how to use Google. Then Rodent called XMLguy a smartass Then XMLguy said to go fcuk yourself So, for those of you keeping score, it's Rodent 0 ...

Nope; the 2.0 update doesn't solve the basic problem with the sync - which is not locking to a song position pointer. When you have an MTC sync (Midi Time Code) you only get tempo information. So, as long as the 2 devices are EXACTLY in sync, your'e fine - which is impossible (try playing two CD ...

XMLguy's belligerent comments aside, I'd like to respond to Rodent's post constructively. RE longer loop times and more options, try the EH 2880: http://www.ehx.com . I have one and it's really cool; very intuitive and sounds great. It's basically a digital 4 track that you can record and sync on ...

XML - thanks for the info. I do know that the KP3 has looping and sampling capabilities (hence the label of "Dynamic Effect / Sampler") And I am using them, yes. Unfortunately, however, the sync on the KP3 is sadly lacking, as there is no Song Pointer information received. So, consequently the KP3 ...

An Idea RE Sync!

Ok, so I have an idea!

Instead of triggering the samples, how about triggering THE SYNC itself... is there a way to send a midi message form the sequencer (the EMX-1 in this case) that will activate the ALIGN button/function?

that would be sweet - thoughts?

Hm; RE EMX triggering - interesting work-around. THe only problem would be, if I *didn't want the sample to play at some point... I guess I'd have to mute the dedicated EMX track? Cool idea. But, it may be jsut as much work as having to hit the "Align" button every 64 bars... There's no way to make ...

Hey Tusker - did you ever find a solution to your sample/sync problem? I do live PA as well, and am trying to come up with a way to keep my sample bank loops on the KP3 stay in sync with with my EMX-1 sending midi clock. I'd rather not hard-code it into the EMX either. Any luck?

Dude - that's a pretty hardcore response to an excellent question - and I'd be very curious to know on what page the manual addresses "recording to a click you can't hear..." - and in the Tiips sticky (no mention of this user's problem either). I think the user's question is legitimate, because if ...

Hi Prix,

that sounds like a very interesting setup - I'd like to hear more about it. COuld you post a signal path diagram / schematic of your setup? If you had the option, would you go for something else? A larger mixer (ex: KORG Zero8)

thanks!

Hi Decrep; thanks for the reply. I can't do that - for two reasons: 1) I'm sampling stuff on the fly (ex, using a mic, playing the EMX into it and sampling that, etc) - this has to be done live 2) that would get into micro-managing from the EMX, and using it as a midi-trig device, which I shouldn't ...
