Thanks! These are a nice mix of the better sounds I've heard so far.
I wish it were easier to "create" these rather than having to copy them. -pc

O3R/W vs O5R/W Compatibility
Wondering...
1. Can you transfer all your combos and programs from the O3R/W to the O5R/W directly?
2. Can you do the reverse??? I have a ton of O5R/W and X5 sounds I'd like to transfer to my O3R/W...

Ditto That (Need RE1 Cable)
Yes, I've been looking at the Internets and haven't found anything on the topic.
Is there a standard type 8-pin DIN cable that can used with the RE1, or will I need to have it made custom?

eBay
I bought one from eBay for $50. It's everything you'd expect and I've been having a lot of fun with it. Even if you have to buy yourself a DS too, this is a really cheap way to start synthesizing.

English DS-10 Manual
I think the English release of the DS-10 will be sometime in October. Hopefully there will be a PDF available by then!

FM Sound Chips
From what I understand, the DX-7 uses a 6 operator chip, whereas the 707 uses the cheaper 4 operator version of the same chip with louder modulators to help compensate for the 2 missing operators. The 707 and DS-8 both used the 4-operator YM2164 (OPP) chip. http://homepage.mac.com/synth_seal/html ...

These are cool. They have aftertouch and can run on batteries. They are based on a popular 4 operator Yamaha FM synthesizer chip (same as FB-01) and are setup much like any other KORG synth otherwise. There are combinations that you can program to send external MIDI if i'm not mistaken. They are ...

X5 vs X5D
Are there any sonic differences between the X5 and X5D besides the additional 2M of ROM samples? Specifically, are the effects different sounding?
I was thinking I'd like to get a X5D, but I haven't heard one yet.

I do like 76 keys. Let's you play most piano parts -- good enough for rock & roll at least. Fast weighted keyboard that aren't too heavy... I liked the Roland D-70 for that. And like the D-70, any synthesizer you buy should include awesome MIDI controller features. The D-70 let you layer 4 onboard ...
