Not sure if this will help I was having the same problem with my zero 4. I disabled my dvd drive and my Ethernet hardware in my laptop, this helped a bit but I was was still having problems. I have a small 4 pin fire wire plug and the slightest wiggle would kill the audio and give me that hi pitched ...

I have noticed the knobs are a little loose I might even say flimsy, that said they work well.

My feeling is they're just knobs and when the first one breaks I will simpley replace the lot with something better.

I may have figured out. After reading through a lot of forums I tried disabling the dvd drive while playing and so far no cut outs.
