What to do when you're sick of your song...

Well, you could do what I do and just keep starting a new song so that you have 30 or 40 that never get finished!

~80% of my music has piano in it. It's a cornerstone of my music.

It depends on how many "useful" sounds it contains. The last thing I need is more "trancy" synth sounds, but I'm seriously hurting for electric guitar sounds.

I have a set of Alesis M-1 Actives that I like. Although to be honest, they are the only ones I've owned so I don't have a lot to compare them with. I have a set of the first gen M1's, and to be honest, I don't see the point in using a speaker with such limited low frequency range as most of the ...

Well at least some of us [Kerry and Bush supporters] can conduct ourselves as adults, and for some of us , it's really not that difficult. We all live in an International Community here at IA. Personally , whether you like either one,[Kerry or Bush] I think the broad view of someone we in US are ...

I think "we" have some explaining to do. While I can't speak for all of my countrymen, I think it's fair to say the majority of us feel that neither candidate is worthy of the presidency and that this election is a "lesser-of-two-evils" situation. On one hand, we have Kerry, who many people feel ...

I should have been more clear in that I should have differentiated between sample CD's and using the entire chorus of Rick James' "Superfreak" as the basis for a "new" song. If someone is selling drum beats with the intent of having them used in future compositions, that's their business. What I'm ...

On The Subject Of Sampling In Music

Like any "new" technology, the ability to digitally copy sound has been a double-edged sword. Most would agree that having the sound of a $20k grand piano or a 30-piece orchestra at their fingertips is a positive for songwriters. However, it seems to have become more common for people to sample an ...

I use the TS sequencer and nothing external. Not because there isn't something necessarily "better," but I record 90% of my tracks live, and whatever I can't play correctly I can fix with the onboard sequencer. I don't honestly know what a soft sequencer can do that I can't do already.

IMHO, IA seems to be more geared towards (and seems to attract) more "seasoned" musicians, from what I can see, than Tritonhaven, which seems to have more "first keyboard" types. TH does have lots of great info, especially for beginners. Never been to the other one, so I can't comment on it.

The lack of a decent piano on the M1 is one of the reasons for me looking to upgrade. The patch is horrible, and I can't wait to replace it in my songs that use it.
