Use the joystick to click on a channel you want to select the input for.
As an alternative you can use the hardware buttons to select the channel. Then you should be able to assign the input to it.

Maybe your hdd is broken. If you have a system recovery cd then you might try: open the D3200, disconnect the hdd, start with the recovery cd. It should complain that it can't find a hdd. But afterwards it should boot to the normal screen. If that works you'll have to find a new hdd. You probably ...
