As far as the weight, your talking to someone who used a Rhodes 73-suitcase (still have in the attic) and DK Synergy - nothing can compare to lugging those 2 around - except maybe a Hammond B3 ...

Hi Bob. While I don't own a Pa4x (yet) I read in the manual (page 840) on setting up the mic that there is a 22db to 55db gain knob on the back next to the mic input. Have you tried to adjust that one?
