Re: sq-1 not sending any midi data at all

1. there's something i'm missing I believe a similar cable from an Arturia Beatstep won't work with the SQ-1, for example. LM is right. There are indeed different wirings, and the MIDI adapters for the SQ-1 are definitely not compatible with the Beatstep (Pro). This is how the SQ-1 adapter is wired ...

Re: Capacitors and Resistors

I'm looking to buy a capacitor to do this mod, and it seems like there is a lot of variability within the "104" code (high-voltage, low-voltage, size, shape). Can someone link a capacitor that will work that I can order in the US or the UK? You can use any out-of-the-box 100 nF cap you have lying ...

Any wall wart with correct voltage, amperage and DC plug including correct polarity will do ;).

Afaik (I don't have one myself) you can switch the Volca Sample sync to 'once per clockbeat' or 'once every second beat'. I found this using Google, maybe it helps?

Re: volca sync

pardon my ignorance. im a novice. but, how do you sync the volcas with midi? MIDI clock source (in my case: E-RM Midiclock) to Volca Beats Midi In, Volca Beats Sync Out to Volca Bass Sync In. That's all. You could also distribute the clock signal (e.g. by using a Kenton Midi Thru) and go to the ...

Sometimes the PCBs (or a 'for parts' synth from which you could get it) show up on Ebay. Another idea: Get the layout from the service manual and have a new PCB manufactured. Shouldn't be too expensive - they didn't use 6 layer PCBs when the Poly-800 was developed ;). However, it might be advisable ...

Re: SQ1 not sending MIDI when in slave mode (usb or sync)

Is it normal that the SQ1 not sending MIDI when in slave mode (usb or sync)? Did you check your MIDI recipient is set to the correct channel? I use the E-RM MIDI Clock as master; the SQ-1 is (of course) connected to it via DIN Sync. Sequencing a synth via MIDI (I mostly do that with my DX21) works ...

If I connect the two devices via midi, that should allow me to control the Volca from the SQ1? Sure, but I don't quite see the point in doing that, since the Volcas have their own built-in sequencers!? Anyway, be aware that the Volca Bass receives MIDI notes # 0 - 127 while the SQ-1 only sends # 48 ...

Re: Connecting Volca Bass to SQ1 Sync In/Out

I'm Sync Out from the SQ1, Sync In to the Volca. Pressing Play/Stop on SQ1 has no effect other than to start and stop the lights. The sequence can only be start/stopped on the Volca. Sync only provides a signal for the (in that case) Volca to stay in time. I can't turn any of the steps on or off in ...
