Wow, I didn't expect this thread to revive after a year and I appreciate the help that was offered. Unfortunately, nothing worked. My Kronos is permanently stuck on version 3.0.3, has been for over a year now and I don't expect to ever update it again.

Now that's an idea.

Actually, I have software that can secure erase and if it won't work with flash drives, I can use HxD to create a large file with a typical secure erase hex value and write it to the drive once or twice.

Is it possible that your PC has some virus? It's highly unlikely; I'm pretty careful. Also, I updated from 3.0.2 to 3.0.3 with no issue, remember? Let us know when you try a new USB I will. Oh, well. I gave it the old college try with a full format and fresh transfer. I even extracted the files from the zip again just to be sure. No luck.

Are you doing a quick format instead of a full one ? Perhaps the usb stick isn't fully erased....?? Have you tried the other usb port ? That was worth a shot. Unfortunately, it didn't make any difference. The Kronos still read the drive (flash drive light flickered) and I got the same error.

I've noticed something odd. First, ignore the dates above as they are the modified dates and they correspond to the time I unpacked the zip file. Reformat the usb stick using the Kronos' own menu. Check you usb port for dust - blow it out in case. Check the usb stick for some dust / particle. Leaving the stick in during a power down and power up didn't help. The stick and all the files and folders are there in disk mode but I'm still getting the same error in global mode when I try to update.

I should add that it does read the stick every time when I press OK: the stick light flashes.
