In addition to my Event 8 Studio monitors I have a 12" Cervin Vega powered sub.

I use the Kronos 1/2 audio out to the sub.

I am able to reduce the low frequency on my Event 8's, since the sub can easily handle bass and sub bass.

Since this speaker combination sounds nice and full, thought I would suggest it here.

anyone else using a sub to bring out the best in their Kronos ?

No, but definitely thinking about it... Would you mind commenting on what you think a subwoofer has added to your setup? (Obviously more bass, but more specifically for example, how it has changed the way your most common patches sound to you, etc.)

Would you mind giving your opinion about the JBL LSR310S?

What specifics should I be looking for in a subwoofer.

Heck, I've got my Kurzweil (and some other devices) plugged into an extra home threater receiver I have. It's 7.1 and I've actually got two little subs set up on it. I just don't use the front center channel, as it seems to throw the audio balance out of kilter. Everything goes into a mixer before going into the receiver and sounds really nice.

Brand new they were quite expensive but I managed to snag an amazing deal on them. I don't regret it at all, since they're one of the cleanest sounding monitors I've heard in a while.

Not the loudest, but definitely some of the more precise...

I use a Behringer sub that weighs about 70 lbs and is very powerful - so much so that I have to turn it way down. The room is 16 x 14 feet.

Cost $220 including shipping.

I do not gig so it stays where it is.

GregC- I have the original Mackie HR824's w/ the HRS120 sub. Mackie doesn't make this sub anymore (or the HRS150). Having the adjustable crossover transfers some of the low-end work from the 824's to the sub and works sublime. I cannot stress enough what a joy the Kronos is in this setup! *VERY* warm with a HUGE sound!!

Thanks! Yeah, when certain products you know are good (i.e.- HRS120/150), it makes you wonder why they stopped making them, though. I also have the Korg MR-1000 which is a most wonderful product as well, and Korg isn't making any of the DSD units any longer (except, maybe the external usb DAC?). Just like Starbucks not any longer offering a great-tasting basic mint flavored syrup they used to have, which was one of (my) personal favorites, in favor to peppermint year 'round being the new flavor which I thought would be something only offered during Christmas time. Though I can understand why, I still scratch my head sometimes as to why great products have to go by the wayside! Too bad! I'm glad I grabbed them when I did! When adding a sub to the monitoring, I feel the sound is much more complete, but it definitely depends on individual need for sure. For me, even though the 824's already go quite low, adjusting the crossover properly allows the 824's to focus a bit more with the high/mid low-mid all the while giving more of the grunt work to the sub. This helps to give way for a more clear, tight, and balanced sound.
