Thank you!

Although I'm a little confused as to why Korg Didn't write what you wrote in their manual on updating. They made it a lot more confusing.

Good lord...how did this post get so out of hand? Essssssssssssh!

I just can't get my head around anyone complaining they didn't get this or that. Are you serious? I say, if you don't like the board and what Korg has done for you, then sell it, give it away (I'm sure several people on the forums would take it), or throw it away.
This is an awesome release, with excellent updates, and it was FREE!!!

Thanks again Korg!

IMO, this has been the smoothest major upgrade ever.

Copy every file, including Manuals.

From the Update instructions:

Quote:
2. Un-zip the downloaded file.

4. Open the folder containing the update files and sub-folders.

5....copy the update files and sub-folder(s)....

....don't copy the main, enclosing folder.

here's a pic of the contents and confused as to what I'm suppose to copy:

Copy all 10 items.

I'd like to thank Korg for fixing my biggest issue with the kronos. THE VELOCITY CURVES. I was expecting a customizable menu for the curves but the new updated ones just work! Curve #4 now feels very natural on my 73, now I can make the rhodes sounds bark when i want them too. Thank you thank you thank you Korg!!

Careful, it is not the file KRONOS_Update_3_0_2.tar but KRONOS_Update_3_0_2.tar.gz that needs to be at the root of the USB key.

If Windows is set to hide extensions, then all is fine, the extension .gz is here but hidden from view in Explorer.

However, one problem that can happen which leads to a failed installation is having the zip utility set to recursive decompression. In other words, the zip utility is set to decompress until there is nothing to decompress. So it starts with the zip file downloaded from Korg, and once the folder has been created, the zip utility looks inside the folder, sees a gz file and decompresses the gz file to leave a tar file.

In the picture shown here, you can clearly see that Windows is set to hide extensions. Why? simple, the type of the file KRONOS_Update_3_0_2.tar is set to gz Archive, proving that .gz is hidden from view.

Ah, recursive unzipping. That's why people have so much trouble. I couldn't figure out why people were so concerned about updating. Thanks Francois, I don't like mysteries.

Thank for the update, I did notice that and when I right click and go to properties I do see the .qz, so yes it's hidden.

However some have said copy everything and others said evrything but manual...?

Copying the folder Manual or not makes no difference whatsoever.

I always assumed it updated the help file in the Kronos.

But the help system uses those files. If you omit those files from the update process, the Kronos OS will behave unexpectedly at best.

The Manual folder only contains the PDF documentation in 5 languages. I don't think these PDF are used by the Help system of the OS.

Yeeaah,
Thani you Korg for this major update! I like the soundtranspose function in the setlist very much. Perfect for playing in a coverband! And the larger fonts and colors!

I'm a little behind, but I completed the OS 3.0.2 update today. It went very smoothly.

The only thing I want to mention in case others run across it is about the Ethernet adapter. Per the OS update instructions, I disconnected all USB devices before the update. Then only the FAT32 USB stick containing the update was inserted. After the update, I powered down and removed the update stick. I re-started, and then after the K was fully booted, I plugged the USB connection to my computer and the USB-Ethernet adapter.

The USB Ethernet adapter did not work at first. Although powered and having a link light, the network dialog said "cable unplugged". I repeated the procedure that I discovered in a previous incident with the Ethernet. In the Network Config dialog, select None disable Ethernet, and click OK. Then go back to Config and change it back to DHCP. That brought it back for me.
