LOL
The change in the car from 1 year to the next, is largely cosmetic.
Just be aware of comparing an apple to an orange. |
You never know Dan from Korg the board legend might get tipsy over Christmas and let some unknown enhancements to the new board slip maybe we should all plow him with JD _________________ Scott

Thanks Greg but most cars & products advertised as a new model also come with new features |

So does this one.
They just decided to give part of the upgrade for free to users of the old board. The soundsets are a paid upgrade. So unless you invest in the upgrades, they're not the same keyboard. I don't see the issue. |

Got it, thanks Larry.

New Korg libraries (such as the Berlin Grand) will use the String Resonance as appropriate. |
Makes lot of sense. Glad it's being done that way too! Thanks man. |

There are a lot of software updates in the new version and Korg have been kind enough to give these changes for free to older machines.
Imagine BMW doing that! |

Just more proof that the Kronos is better than any $40,000 BMW

Half a year ago I bought Cubase 7.5. Now they want $50 to upgrade to Cubase 8. They did have fre updates to finally get to version 7.5.3 but since they are adding a lot of never before seen features, they are charging.
The fact that korg does it all for free except for sounds seems totally right to me. _________________ If music is the food of love, play on and play loud!

Same here. Bought the Kronos based on the features it had at the time of purchase, never expected ongoing development so the free updates are great. As a matter of fact, I often give a lot of thought to whether or not I actually want to update the OS! Either way, I don't mind that the sounds are not included for free to older units since I generally program what I need and the piano(s) we have suit my needs. _________________ Minimoog Voyager - DSI Prophet 12 - Sequential Prophet 6 - DSI OB-6 - Access Virus Ti2 - Korg Kronos 2 - KingKORG - Novation MiniNova - Roland JU-06 - Roland RD-700GX - Novation Bass Station Rack - EMU Proteus 2000 - Various other old musical gadgets and dodads |

Year $50 is a bargain, £82 here ($130) . You Yanks have it easy and Sternberg is a European company!
Edit: just realised you are not a Yank, excuse me. The £82 is $150 Canadian though, so it looks like Canadians have it even bloody better! |

That's ok! Us Canucks are hard to offend! I've even heard we're a bit famous for it. I haven't done the update yet but I'm going to this weekend. There is a time frame on the price, I believe. This time of year though, money is tight. _________________ If music is the food of love, play on and play loud!

I am no beginner when it comes to computers and have updated the Kronos a few times already. Any help? |

Copy every file and folder you see there (except Manuals) to the root of the usb drive. When you look at the contents of the usb drive, you should see that same list of files and folders (except the manuals).
Put the usb drive into the Kronos and update from the Global mode.

Man I love pushing buttons even though I don't get on here that much.
1. I do make my own patches and samples.
2. I do purchase soundbanks.
3. I just wanted to see how many buttons I could push.
4. Trust me, I know the Korg Kronos X is THE top workstation on the market.
5. This is why I switched from Roland to Korg some years ago when I purchased the M3. I could have traded in the M3 for the Kronos but we all know Sam Ash doesn't give you much for the trade in so I decided to donate it to the youth in my church to use.
p.s. Also my savings account was over $40k so cash wasn't a problem. So you understand I really don't have a problem purchasing soundbanks. I'm retired in my late 40s and money is not an issue for me. LOL... |
