it should work as a midi controller - but I don't think you'll be able to plug it straight in. I'm pretty sure the Krome doesn't have the same USB A ports that the Kronos does. You'll need a computer or something to plug the Vortex into and then send the signal via MIDI into the Krome. _________________ ::: Korg Kronos 88 ::: Alesis Fusion 8HD ::: Kurzweil PC361 ::: Roland V-Synth ::: DSI Prophet 12 ::: DSI OB-6 ::: Korg Prophecy ::: Moog Micromoog ::: Yamaha CP-30 ::: Alesis Andromeda ::: Moog Sub37 ::: Sequential Prophet 600 ::: Korg MS2000BR ::: GSI Burn :::

It DOES have standard MIDI connectors though
So either way, you've got a kickass keytar |

For those of you that have the vortex wireless, what velocity curve setting do you use? I find that the vortex sends full 127 very easily so it is very hard to be expressive and plays everything like I'm hammering the thing. Anyway of changing this? I bought it from this store too. Works perfectly with Kronos. _________________ Korg Kronos 73 - Korg Triton Classic 61

The range is 200ft since it's only MIDI over WiFi.
It works great. I've walked up the street still playing
Neighbours didn't like that. |

Did you encounterany dropouts or MIDI note hangs? I bought one, too, but I have frequent note hangs even in 2m range which makes it quite unusable... _________________ Korg KRONOS X 88, Nord Stage 2 |

No dropout or stuck notes here on mine. Worked perfectly the first time just inserting the USB transceiver directly into the back of the Kronos.
Perhaps you have electrical interference in the immediate area? |

I needed a controller for my iPad, so after looking around and at the price it seemed my perfect excuse to get one! Picked it up for $185 out the door locally.
So first: It works with my iPad Air 2 flawlessly. The only thing I notice is that some of the Korg apps don't respond to sustain pedal messages or program control change messages. The PolySix and MS-20, Module, and Gadget! A bit disappointing there. Though the iM1 works a treat! Hopefully they'll get updates.
As you know it works great with the Kronos, no noticeable lag and plug n play.
I must say I am SHOCKED that this has aftertouch! Since it's so cheap I assumed it'd be velocity sensitive only. AFAIC for now on, other manufacturers have NO excuse not to add aftertouch if ALESIS can do it! _________________ Korg: KRONOS 73, M50-61, 01W/r

A question: do the 8 pads function like the ones on a Nanopad, i.e. do they follow the chords programmed in the Kronos pads? _________________ Kronos X-88, Nanopad2, Tascam US122 MKii, Roli Rise 49 |

Not out of the box, but I believe you can assign them to equivalent CC#s so they would. Haven't had a chance to mess with it yet. _________________ Korg: KRONOS 73, M50-61, 01W/r

Yep, I just downloaded the Alesis manual; pads can be set to any CC midi message, so that should work. Not just the pads, but also the knobs, and some of the switches. It would be really exciting to be able to control (parts of) Karma with a keytar. Wirelessly. Hm.... let me check my bank account ... _________________ Kronos X-88, Nanopad2, Tascam US122 MKii, Roli Rise 49 |
