Hello.
Like so many others on this forum I'm new to the world of MIDI. And even though I find many threads discussing (and apparently answering) the issue at hand, my biggest problem is vocabulary. It's all way over my head.
So, if you have time to dumb it down and address me like a 5-year old, I would greatly appreciate it.
If not, well, I don't blame you
Here goes;
I have a gig coming up where I'm going to use a Prophet Rev2 alongside my Kronos. I'm keeping it simple - I want to play my Kronos on my Kronos, and to play the Rev2 on the Rev2.
But to make things easier still, I want to send patch change commands from my Kronos to the Rev2 so I can work my way through my set list without having to do any kind of program changes on the Rev2 itself.
Again - all I want is to send patch change information to the Rev2 from my Kronos!
Do I do this in a Combi, or in my set list, or both?
I tried creating a combi with an EXT2 instrument, but the Rev2 didn't respond to any of the msb/lsb settings I plotted in. However, after I added the combi to a set list on my Kronos, the Rev2 did react to me changing patches in Set List mode, so I'm obviously sending something.
There's a good possibility that I haven't setup the Rev2 correctly, but I'm obviously also sending two sets of MIDI-information from the Kronos without intending to.
As you see, I really have no clue (even though I referenced msb/lsb, which makes me sound like a pro).
Any help will be appreciated. Remember – I'm stupid! Talk to me like I'm stupid!
Cheers. |

I think you are close. Kronos is a very good midi/master controller
Not expert, but you need to create your own Combis.
For each custom Combi , go to the tab titled ' Timbre/parameter.
You will see a choice of 16 midi channels to work with.
Select your choice of midi channel
You will see the INT choices , Ex, Ex2, for each channel, in a pick list.
You have the LSB/MSB references for your Prophet , it appears.
Once you add those references , in your selected midi channel , either EX or Ex2, it should work, where your Prophet responds.
Once that is ok, save the custom Combi, add them to your SetList.
I skipped a few steps, but that should get you in the ball park. _________________ Kronos 88. MODX8

Thanks for the reply GregC.
But the set list itself sends out som kind of MIDI command, correct? Because whenever I change to a different patch/combi in my set list the Rev2 automatically jumps to the first patch in whatever bank I'm in, regardless of what patch I've chosen in my combi.
I obviously need to go through my Rev2 settings again, but I'd also like to stop my set list from sending commands – the combi should be enough…
