Hello everyone!

I'd like to announce that on the tails of my Klonos M1 Converter software listed here,

http://www.korgforums.com/forum/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=84349

I have now begun work on KROMOS: a Krome-to-Kronos Conversion application.

Here are the features I will eventually have:

- Open a Krome PCG file and view Program and Combi data.
- Assign a Target Kronos Program and/or Combi Bank(s) for conversion.
- Convert all selected Krome Program and/or Combis to Kronos.
- Save converted Programs/Combis to Kronos PCG.

Here is what I have completed:

- Open and import of a Krome PCG (in this case my test file is the Best of M1 PCG).
- Conversion of ONE Program bank to Kronos including all attached FX!
- Save to user-defined User Bank on Kronos as PCG file.
- Successful load of Program bank on Kronos (multisample assignment was still required manually for each OSC).

Here is my props to people who have helped me:

- Michel, the developer of the excellent PCG Tools. Thanks a bunch!

Here is my request for some help:

I am looking for a special someone who happens to own a Krome AND A Kronos to help me with some testing on both workstations. This will entail sending me PCG files from the Krome (which I don't own) for me to test with the Kronos (which I do own) and using my software to do conversion testing. Also need some ear evaluation between the two workstations. If interested, please send me a PM on here and we'll talk further.

My target for a first release with limited functionality will be middle of November depending on participation mentioned above.

Thanks!

It looks great and I know how much work has been done under the hood to accomplish this.

I hope to see this application being very successfull.

Hi sunriser111671,

I have Both Kronos and Krome ( honestly the Krome will left soon for a Jupiter-80) but I still have a couple of weeks to play whit it.

If you like I can try to use the software, and in any case I have a backUp of all Krome programs and also m3 program that I use to play on Krome

Regards

Thanks to all the people who have offered to help! You will be invaluable in my development efforts.

Time table for a release of an alpha version of the software may be this weekend if all the tests go well!

KROMOS Converter v0.5 (Windows only BTW) will start with just allowing conversion of ONE Krome Program Bank to a target Kronos Program Bank of your choice. Multisamples will have to added manually after loading the PCG to the Kronos.

Question to the Korg Community: Does anyone know if the Krome multisample set exists completely or partially in the Kronos (maybe with different multisample names). Eventually, I'd like to incorporate auto-multisample conversion!

Not to be the party pooper, but why a KROME to KRONOS converter?
I've only seen a tiny few files available for the KROME, so there's not exactly much to convert.

Why not a Triton to KRONOS converter. There's a massive selection of sounds in the download section here on KORG FORUMS that would be great to have inside the KRONOS.

Regards
Sharp.

Probably because both the Krome and Kronos use (almost) the same engine.

That and the Best of M1 is on the Krome (also a few Krome third party sound sets I'm interested in). Although my Klonos M1 software does a decent job approximating the parameter conversion, the Krome to Kronos is an almost complete 1-to-1 copy of parameters.

I'm not too familiar with the Triton. But, Sharp, if the synth engine is not EDS/HD-1 like Krome/Kronos, wouldn't the same issue you ran into with your M1 to Kronos conversion creep up? A bunch of parameters in the Triton that don't match up to the Kronos?

Thanks!

Well, I might as well post this now in case anyone else is interested in testing.

KROMOS Krome-To-Kronos Converter V0.5 Alpha is available for downloading and testing at:

UPDATE (10/31/13): Link Updated

http://www.flexmediasoftware.com/index.php/downloads

Current Requirements:

- Windows only (or Mac with Win VM, but not tested): XP/Vista/7/8 32 or 64
- .NET 4.0 (installer will prompt user to download if not detected)
- Your Kronos must be using OS v 2.0 or greater.

Current Features:

- Reads Krome PCG files.
- Allows browsing of all Program Banks with program name selection and parameters listed on a datagrid.
- Easy step-by-step conversion of ONE Krome Program bank to Target Kronos Program Bank. It will convert 99% of the Krome parameters and most of the FX, but manual multisample setting will be required after PCG load to Kronos.
- Save as Kronos PCG file.

For Future Releases:

- read and convert Combis.
- auto convert Krome multisamples to equivalent Kronos multisamples (will require some outside help for this)
- allow multiple Combis/Programs to be converted.

THIS IS ALPHA SOFTWARE! USE AT YOUR OWN RISK! MAKE SURE TO BACKUP YOUR KRONOS BEFORE USING!

For those who decide to brave the uncharted waters, report back to me here with any bugs, suggestions, praises, etc.

Enjoy!

I am more and more interested by your software...

Can you explain your method? specs? etc...

I agree Sharp with the fact that triton has much more PCG files to convert than Krome...

So, what about a Triton to Kronos (or Krome Smile ) converter?

In fact, if I had the PCG specifications , I would develop Triton to Krome converter...

Thank you,
Cyph
