I have been listening to all these demos of the pa900 and pa3x and have been tempted but I keep asking myself " do I really need to buy a new arranger ? What can I do musically with a new board that I can't do with my existing korg pa1x "

Hi Worth,
What enticed me to move to the 3x was an extra special deal when a local music store went belly-up. I'm very happy I made the move and would probably have been changing over about now (a year later) even without the deal.
For me the big improvements are:
1) mp3 recording. My old 1x didn't have this feature.
2) Much better voice and harmony. The new TC-Helicon is great.
3) Some sounds greatly improved - I particularly like the Real Strings and the Pianos (after some tweaking to get the sound I wanted).
4) USB memory stick input/output. Floppies - say no more.
5) Panel layout - particularly the mic setting knobs with volume, harmony and reverb.
6) Midi music score. I find this very useful when trying to work out what is actually being played in a midi file.
You might miss the lack of speakers compared to your 1x-61.
If you want the convenience of in-built speakers you probably should consider the pa900. As far as I know it has identical sounds to the 3x.
My 1x has found a new home at my son's place and I still like to play it when visiting!
John

Unfortunately almost all of the music shops in Birmingham no longer stock high-end arranger keyboards. This means that the only thing I can listen to is YouTube recordings on the web. I listen to it and am inspired by what I hear but then I go to my keyboard and I can pretty much replicate in time what I hear! So all I'm doing is lusting after something new simply because it's new 😄. I don't use MP3s so that's not really an attractive to me although I appreciate it might be to others . And yet I still feel like I want a new keyboard. I have had my trusty keyboard for the last nearly 10 years. Maybe the new tyros five will do it for me once I get approved for a mortgage !

Hi Worth
Four hours ago my 9 year old pa1xpro was traded in for a pa3x76 complete with speaker bar. I haven't stopped grinning yet and thought of your question. The sounds are streets ahead to my ears and the layout, as Rueben said, is much better.
Go on, you know you want to. You won't be disappointed.

Hi Worth

I have the same problem here in terms of actually touching and feeling new gear.
But if you buy it "sight-unseen" you will not be disappointed my friend - it will blow your mind!!

Sent you a "response" PM 2 weeks ago - it's still in my outbox....???

I am very tempted and maybe it is time for a change. But I'm also considering the tyros five is about to come out. If the tyros finally has a full sequencer and all the sounds can be fully edited onboard I could see myself going to the other side .

Hi worth

Just make sure that Tyros 5 has
    "Bass Inversion" button,
    Tempo lock button,
    improved intelligent chord recognition
    better styles
    control over superarticulation sounds,
    a touch screen
vastly improved OS for performance and recording
vastly improved screen "access" to styles and sounds
    vastly improved vocal harmony processor
    Complete control over FILLs
    it is not still over-priced
and no Christmas tree lights!!! Wink

(If it has those improvements, then I might be interested myself!!!!!!)

Good luck my friend...

Cheers

Pete Very Happy
