Oddly enough, I would have guessed plastic/wire/electrical myself. Maybe you're just hungry though Wink

Stir up that pot (of something nice to eat, of course)

Could be a small creature crawled inside the Kronos
Smile

One has to go thru the many possibilities when conducting Internet diagnosis

Mine never smelled like burnt plastic. And he said it was getting hot. After three hours mine is just warm. My thought is, better safe then sorry.

I've never had any new electronic device smell like something burning unless there was actually something being fried. I would get it checked out right away.

I was operating on the principle that most things are self evident in life. If you buy a new car or new appliance it immediately starts burning and smelling, yes, of course, shut the darn thing off and return it. Generally, when something is burning, it is giving off smoke and something is going to be hot to touch.

New cars give off whats known as a new car smell. Its smell that comes from the combination of materials found in new automobiles

The Kronos also has a smell, from a combination of new materials

Yes mine did have a new burn in smell also but it didn't smell like burnt plastic. Some people just don't grasp english that well so I wanted to just be very clear, sorry.

Burning plastic smell and hot usually means a problem.

+1

Without a doubt have it looked at right away. An electrical fire is not a good situation.

So the "BBQ grill" postulation alludes to the possibility of an unfortunate rodent roast within the Kronos? Clever! "I dare say, dear Watson, I smell a rat!"... Wow, you really did go thru the many possibilities Smile

the open nature of a posters query makes for entertaining possibilities.

Do you have an outside BBQ ? Its fun to prepare a dinner for the BBQ, open the BBQ lid and see a creature leap out of it . Great dinnertime conversation, too Smile
