Hi all

Have any of you bothered to replace the rechargeable battery pack for your PA3X?
There doesn't seem to be any acceptable "generic" options - only "Korg KITBAAT-1002" and not that easily available AND expensive for overseas buyers.

Just curious

I'm not going to bother replacing mine.

This pack is not only unavailable but also contains one of the worst type of NiMH batteries , so everybody who
wants to replace that pack it's better to disassemble those 6 batteries , replace them with this excellent type
http://main.panasonic-eneloop.eu/en/batteries/eneloop/eneloop-aa-1900-mah-8-wideblister
and keep alive ST-BY Ram up to 10 years !

Thanks Antony

I've not ripped apart my old pack - is it simple to replace the batteries?
(Sorry - may seem like a dumb question)

Cheers

Not very simple , you have to carefylly solder six batteries poles in series using short cables or metal bars , pack them
side by side as the original pack and use the original cables and temperature sensor between them.

Thanks Antony

I think I'll stay with my decision to "not bother" with batteries.

Cheers

It's not that hard Pete.A little care is all that is needed.
Also check the neg wire to see that there is no black wire. If so , replace the wire.Use a little glue to hold batts together in the same config as old pack.
Check plug also for any degradation.
I think antonys batts are the best(panasonic brand) altho 1900mah is a little over the top.
A minimum of 12000 mah would probably be sufficent.

Whow ... Very Happy ... Probably for over a month with Pa3X unplugged ! but this has no meaning at all since you need
an external box of some Kgr to carry with Pa3X and always connected with it !
If you need an extreme battery mod that suites inside Pa3X , make this circuit I've published :
http://www.korgforums.com/forum/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=670097&sid=755f16f1ece46539a8daefd928a39867

Seriously now , 2000mAh are capable to sustain Ram for at least 3 days with Pa3X unplugged from main power ,
so the most important thing is to calculate how many discharge circles you can gain with any solution there ,
since all batteries ( except very expensive gel acid lead batteries of deep discharge for eco energy) have a duty
cycle of max 400 discharges and will last for another 2-3 years !

The only new innovating LPD rechargeable batteries for portable devices are the mentioned eneloop type of
1900-2000mAh that can be charged up to 1100 times and will last up to 10 years for your Pa3X ST-BY Ram ...

Hello. I first complained and pointed out this problem of bad batteries.
Until KORG acknowledged this and began replacing faulty batteries, he made his own. Therefore, in order to choose the right batteries, I read the TEST and evaluation of AA batteries.
I used the best batteries according to the TEST results. At that time, VARTAs were 2700mAh. These batteries still work today.

I recommend doing the same. If you want to replace them, I recommend reading the test of AA batteries for 2021 or 2020 available on your market.
I chose the winner of the tests and I am satisfied.
