I am using the korg Z1 now about more than 3 years, and I have to admit I am addicted to this synth. It blowed away all my other synths I owned an AN1x CS1x and PSR 2000, but I have to say, the Korg Z1 beats them all.
I like to create new sounds on it, most of the time by changing the existing sounds.
and create multipatches of it.
I have create alot of youtube movies of it.
This is an organ sounds multipatch, based on the full pipes preset, listen what happen if the modwheel is turned up, the organ changes to a sweet pipe organ, I am using a user scale, which makes it C minor scale

This is a strings sound multipatch, based on the violin + strings. It's amazing how realistic it sounds, and the dynamics are super:

I didn't know that playing the Z1 produces a couple of fairy princesses twirling and flying around the room. The Z1 is one of the best keyboards for pads and ethereal sounds, but I didn't know about the magical effects until I saw some of your videos with the proof. |

I think it will blow every synth away, cause it has more dynamics and expression possibilities. It has 2 very good controllable filters, en filter envelopes, en user controls, XY pad. I love it. I play it now for more than 3 years. I am actually a guitar player. |

I got my Z1 about 4 years ago for $400USD. It was like new, in the orginal plastic and box. It's one of the best purchases I ever made. Korg had a great idea when they put a touch pad on the keyboard, in addition to the pitch/mod stick. Too bad they didn't keep adding touchpads to all their synths, since I wish the R3/Radias had one. The touchpad on the Novation X-Station is great too, but Novation removed it for the Ultranova. The Z1 has become a classic and unique sounding digital synth from the 90's. It also has aftertouch, which Korg also decided wasn't important enough to keep for the R3/Radias. The Z1 keybed feels great too, very high quality synth action. |
