No preamp needed.

A preamp is unnecessary for most electronic digital instruments. The tubes also provide a bit of the warmth you may be looking for there, when set to low levels.

What might be worth investing in though is a decent outboard stereo master compressor. I'm using an ART tube VLA at the moment and it helps to squash the sound up a bit in a nice way. Previously I was using it to flatten out the levels of guitar and bass signals.

Yeh Id agree on the compressor. I use an analogue compressor in my rack setup both in the studio and live, its analogue but not tube or valve based as I use nice russian valves on my electribes anyway.

The compressor I use is the Samson S-com Plus
