1. You assume a lot about the stems. Will they fit?
2. God forbid you pull out or break a pot barrel while trying to remove the knob cap, you are going to kick yourself silly! I've done that changing knobs on a few Euro modules in the past. Its not pretty!
Be careful!
Could be a cool customization though. I wouldn't do it, however. _________________ http://soundcloud.com/ronf-3/sets/ronf-music

I think that it is easier to remove the buttons sliders than the knobs pan. _________________ KORG KRONOS 61 |

It is very easy to pull them out! I've pulled them out once!
Just pull them vertically and they come off very easily.
The only subject here is, if the new sliders or knobs will be mounted properly in order not to fall off.
EDIT...
...and where can we buy them!!?? _________________ Korg Kronos LS

The irony of the knob/slider thingy, makes me wonder if Kronos came from the factory with your new selection,
would you be thinking of replacing them with what's already there now? _________________ Lou |

Personally, i like Kronosses sliders and knobs.
But the sliders that polop suggests are more practical.
You can move them up both ways with just placing one finger one them
and without slipping. _________________ Korg Kronos LS

You mean like those of us who have them fitted on our Oasys
Can't see why you couldn't replace the Kronos ones with something more suitable so long as they fit the stalks,
I did just that when I had a Korg Prophecy as I hated those stock chunky fumbly knobs things they fitted on the realtime Controls below the Screen, replaced them with some similar Triton sized ones which were far better and more comfortable to the touch _________________ --Korg Nautilus~~Korg Modwave--Korg SV-1-Korg Wavestate-- |

They are nice i must admit!
Kronos sliders knobs come off with a gentle pull..
I can't make out if it's a Lever 1 or 6? _________________ Lou |

Those are nice. Like I have on my Motif. They feel GREAT and are very responsive. For those of us that are ever behind a mixing board, THAT is how sliders SHOULD feel. Not like an old radio shack mixer!
And people WONDER why some of us are screaming CHEAP with the hardware! I mean seriously, the same as RADIO SHACK Korg?
Anyways.....to the OP: I would DEFINITELY replace the sliders/knobs.
I plan to as well, I just need to source them. Anyone know where there's a good selection of rubber knobs/sliders?
I really can't stand the knobs/sliders on the Kronos. The knobs especially. Because they're so tall, it puts a lot of the force on the top and can stress the shaft if you grab it too quickly or are a little careless. I'm afraid I'm going to snap them off!
2nd, the plastic ones don't really move with the edge of the finger, you have to grab it with your whole hand to be successful. This might sound silly, but for me it's real important. I can't tell you how often I want to adjust the volume and do it in-between chords when playing live. It's bad enough the main volume isn't a slider! I know, there's the "final slider" but it's not the same IMO.
It's a fairly inexpensive "Fix", but it's aggravating that one has to even contemplate doing so. _________________ Korg: KRONOS 73, M50-61, 01W/r

After removing the slider knob on Kronos and looking at the portion of shaft that extends out of the surface, it appears to be longer than the center thickness of the above slider knob.
If what I see is so, the slider knob will not be flush as it is with the original. i.e. You may be able to see the shaft below the slider knob after seating it. This may not bother some, but we shall see.. _________________ Lou |

I believe it's a Lever 6. It has 4mm thickness under it,
at the point where the metal plate is hooked.
NuSkoolTone i don't think that these Sliders and knobs are cheep.
They all cost about the same. I think it is a matter of design.
EDIT...
Here is a photo of my Kronos with one Knob and two Sliders pulled out.
