Hi out there,

I ve done it ....
drilled 4 holes into the bottom of my WD Twisted Evil Wink

......It started with this product:

http://www.amazon.com/Korg-CM-100L-Contact-Microphone-Tuners/dp/B000WGJ71U

This is a piezo sensor , it seems to be smaller than the origina MINI clip ,
but fully working

.......then I got information here :

http://www.cigarboxnation.com/forum/topics/wiring-diagram-collection?groupUrl=cbgwiringelectronics&id=2592684%3ATopic%3A250366&groupId=2592684%3AGroup%3A153908&page=2

now I prefer an input device like this :

http://www.rmcaudiodirect.com/Yamaha-KP65-Kick-Drum-Tower-p/KP65.htm

and I am experimenting with a preamped microfone

the project is still in "test mode" but works very fine...

now I have many doors (possibilities) open in all directions
...IN and OUT .....!

can you follow me ?
what do you think about it?

yamaha show how them cable make to reduce or eliminate some buzz problem

Hi freestock

thanks a lot for your creative help and brainstorming...
especially the No1 idea for an external pressure pedal.

I could eliminate my buzz problem when I made a solid ground connection
directly at my KD 8 kick trigger.
no more noise now...
sometimes it is the most simple solution.

I think I found an interesting solution for the pressure pedal.

still in "experimental mode"

yeahh WaterDrum !!

it's same like pressure sensor buil in my "DTX MULTI 12", on the service manual of my DTX i see this electronique part on each pad, this is the reason the DTX have a pressure ability for mutting gradually a sound and playing more expressivity in all pad.

it's very interesting ! you are the winner.

I use a strobe tuner and it uses a similar clip.

I was curious where all the jacks are wired inside the wavedrum.

ok Bertotti

i search on the web for strobe Peterson and i saw the external clip
may be work too with it

if it is a piezo, there is no reason why it does not work

for internal wiring of Wavedrum, ask at WaterDrum

good luck

not so many reactions on this thread (yet ?)
@bertotti : you received your info already.....
@ all the other interested picture downloaders and readers:

seems I touched a taboo or nobody believes me
or something else ? is there anybody out there + interested ?

Well , here is a short description of my WD XXL setup
at the moment I play my SILVER WD with

1) one external trigger for the rim algo
2) one external trigger for the head algo
3) one bass drum pedal trigger (Boss KD8)
all of that at the same time !!!!
-the internal WD microfones are also still fully working of course
-this multiplies the sound expression by minimum 5 x !!!

you can as well fix the clip to your drumstick and trigger from everywhere ,
or also make "double triggering" on the WD RIM or the WD HEAD...
with your magic "Trigger-Clip-Stick"

My Trigger OUTPUT (internal RIM/HEAD & 3x external)
provides a signal to the Trigger INPUT of a Handsonic or a SPD-S
or to any "Drum Brain"
and I can blend in their line outs into the AUX IN of the WD
...so unlimited new samples for the WD
(too much ? there is still more stuff...., even MIDI OUT)

As well i am still in test mode with the expression pedal (freestocks idea)
which should work fine for decay , tune and
special features for "edit 2 ALGo head-pressure" ,
depending on the specific algo
(makes the WD "more mad")

I think this mod is way ahead of time
as everybody still has an active warranty and shure does not want to void it.

"I shot the sheriff , but I wouldnt shoot my warranty"

you dont need to react on this thread as usual Laughing
because I consider it as a TIME CAPSULE Wink
and if you read this in the future , when your warranty time has run out,
dont hesitate to make this thread alive again
and get the necessary information.

so long

As soon as I can I will video tape the mods and post them up somewhere. I would like more info on how you set up the kick, you may have told me but I am curious as you did say it has a pot in it so what did you set the output to and which sensor is it in parallel with. I am going on 2 years with my WD so I am not worried about warranty if it was going to bust it would have done it already. I got two kids 5 and 6 also pounding on it so it is very durable and is holding up well! I wonder with the extra inputs will this be overdriving anything internally? I have not had mine open since I changed heads.

I really can't believe no one else is into this but I guess that is the nature of the beast. I think it has more to do with where they came form instrument wise. I came from mandolin and guitar where you are always moding something so it is much less intimidating. I don't think there is as much of that going on in the drum world.

I still haven't gotten the extention cable to run my card outsie of the wd, best I could find was to buy 20 of them and I don't want to get stuck with them!

hi Bertotti
a good decision to try the mod , well , at least the Rim part of it.
you gonna have the second modded Wavedrum on this planet...

one more time :
YOU LOOSE YOUR WARRANTY
I do not take any responsibility for Your work, but dont worry,
I am running the Mod since two months and have NO PROBLEM .

a pic says more than a long explanation:

this is the small board in the RIM ,
where the 2 Rim piezo-micros are led together .

remove the black adhesive tape
you see a blue cable ( at the very left),
this is where you solder the ground(shield, earth ,in German "Masse")
of your new cable and of your 1/4 inch jack.
the 2nd (red) cable is "signal"..... (the tip contact of the jack) ..thats all

to this 1/4 inch "e guitar" jack you can connect all kinds of "INPUT DEVICES" (like the tuner clip above for example....and more.)
with an Y-cable as many as you want ..at the same time ,no worry

if you have a kick trigger like the roland KD8
(no volume regulation built in) ...it works perfect, no distortion,no overdriving
with a yamaha kp65 (see link above) you have a built in volume regulation
which is only more comfortable to use , but not necessary.
(dont forget, you still need the foot machine itself...)

if you are really into it here is more info about
"Input Devices" for your Wavedrum to start with

http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=drum+trigger%2B&aq=f

more specific questions ? i am up to "communicative pingpong"
in this forum.

Exclamation A much easier kind of modification can be found on page 7 of this thread

I was going to email you but I really would liek to see this take off. I think people are just leary of it becasue it is out of their comfort zone. Maybe we can fire them up! I'm searching for a used kick trigger now. I do have a kick pedal for an acoustic kit.. I'm thinking of puting the clip on my hihat! Hey it might sound cool, fun to try!

experimenting is gigafun...

I have already connected an old electric fretless bass guitar

but sometimes the results are different from what you expect
sometimes useful ...sometimes not.
