I don't think any internal wire shielding has anything to do with this.
People, as long as internal digital recording is used, we're talking pure software here. That's why it's so interesting to me if there is a difference - it means that it's not a hardware issue, but somewhere along the line, Oasys OS processes the sound differently than Kronos OS. And considering that the two are nearly identical in looks and function, and the CPU on the Kronos isn't THAT much wimpier than on the Oasys, where's this coming from? Did they want to make Kronos sound different? |

No. Only when audio input is being used, perhaps, but in regular sample playback, no. |

After summing up all the informations on this thread so far, the only reason for the different sound quality between Kronos and OASYS, seems to be the use of different algorithms. As Stephen Kay states in this thread: http://www.korgforums.com/forum/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=401472 ,the Kronos isn't just an OASYS with two extra engines:
quote Stephen Kay:
"...This single feature, which may seem just one item on a bullet-point list to most, touches every single aspect of the software, every single sound engine, every single technology in the keyboard, such that major changes and revisions and testing and bug-fixing (i.e engineering resources and $$$) were required to be spent on everything that already existed. It was not just a case of taking existing OASYS software and plugging it into new hardware. The addition of a *single* feature like this required significant re-engineering of everything in the keyboard...
...One could say that the OASYS represented about 10-15 years of software development for Korg (if you look at the failed original OASYS and all of the time spent on that leading up to the released OASYS). The Kronos represents maybe an additional 3-4 years of software development. But it's not nothing. That's the time a company might normally spend on an entirely new product. You've gotten a bargain...."
But let's wait until Leo can hopefully offer some more tests and comparisons. Comparing the two WAV examples so far, makes it obvious that the OASYS WAV example has the better sound. But let's wait and see, or better hear...
(BTW: Leo, can you please send me some more comparison WAVs per e-mail. Thank you so much again, for all your efforts!)

Dude, you have GOT to stop with these piece of sh*t sites!
This is pissing me off, trying to download from that site!
Please, for the love of God man, go to www.sendspace.com upload your files there and post the direct links.
There's NO stupid 60 second wait time, and you can download multiple files at once. NOT something you can do with that site you linked your comparisons to.
This is REALLY testing my patience and I'm NOT liking it!

Thanks for the advice about sendspace, seems like a good site to use for big files. _________________
