Hello.

Was wondering if i'm the only one who finds (with internet explorer 9) this forum very slow to respond. When i click a link (say the oasys forum), it takes 30+ seconds to go back to previous pages on a particular forum like its "stuck" (or on Dial-up) and generally slow everywhere else. Crying or Very sad

Could be IE9, perhaps....

Hi Anthony,

I'm running IE 8 and it works just fine. I upgraded to IE 9 and hated it so much that within a couple of hours I'd reverted back to 8!

Thanks Pepper

Not sure how easy it is to "Downgrade" from 9 to 8, but might give OPERA/FIREFOX a Go Smile

If you're not happy with IE 9 and you want to downgrade it's really easy. Open your control panel then click on programs - program features - installed updates. (I'm using Windows Vista but it'll be similar for XP or Windows 7)

It will load a list of all your installed updates on your pc and you simply find your IE 9 update and click to uninstall it.

Once the uninstall is complete your computer will revert back to running IE 8. (You'll probably need to restart)

I plan on using IE 8 until either they release IE 10 and I really like it. Or IE 8 becomes too buggy to use. In that case I'll probably look at using Safari or something.

Good luck.

Emma

Thanks Pepper! Very Happy

Will have a look at that tomorrow.

Don't think it was always that easy to downgrade "Explorers" but thanks for the tip there, much appreciated.

I found Chrome quite unpredictable and buggy in various aspects. Particularly when filling in forms and stuff.

I used IE7, then IE8 since it was released, even though it was slower, and have IE9 installed (on Vista 64-bit) but it takes ages to load up after you've clicked it. IE8 was stilted and very clunky in the same fashion. Like you said, Anthony, for me IE8 felt distinctly broken. Opening a new tab took ages (sometimes up to 40 seconds). Too bloated by half (and this is on a 2.66GHz quad with 2GB RAM).

After Firefox finally made a move to using cleartype fonts I've completely dumped IE and haven't looked back. So much quicker to launch, consistently, and the integrated plugins and subtle themes are great.
