Shocked
So after lusting after a wavedrum for the past year+ I've just picked the oriental on sale Wink but after softly going through the patches just to hear them I started really lay into it ( with hands and the wd on my lap) on patches I liked only to find that it seemed to randomly changed patches..!?!?

I see no other posts complaining of this....
So am I alone with this problem?
Ya think I've a faulty unit or am I giving it to hard a time - it was flying about a bit while balanced on my lap.

P.s. I'm about to see how it fairs attached to a stand. Idea

Once in a year. I did see someone else post about it a while back.

There's a Wavedrum performance on Youtube of an asian woman where she changes a patch and then triggers it before the next patch is fully loaded and it reverts to the previous patch. At least that's what I think is happening.

I think there are a couple of things going on here.

Playing the Wavedrum on your lap is most likely one of the more "unstable" environments for the instrument, especially if you're playing aggressively with your hands. Lots of moving around, even if slight, is probably putting some stress on the inner-workings of the Wavedrum. Not that this shouldn't be an option for a playing position, but just be aware of the extra care that one might use when doing so.

As far as sudden changes in programs:
It has happened to me too, but very rarely. However, it has never occurred during a performance or live demo. When it HAS happened, it's usually because I was playing very aggressively on the rim, with the shoulder of a stick, in an area close to the main controls. Considering that we are pounding on the very structure that is also housing the electronics, it's not entirely surprising that it could occur occasionally. BUT...

Is has only ever happened when I have randomly dialed up a program, as opposed to playing a sound that I have stored in "Live Mode"
That is: Bank A, B or C.
And one of the location points: 1,2,3 or 4

Live Mode seems to stabilize the sounds a bit. This is also perhaps why it has never happened to me when performing, as I am usually in Live Mode.

Just think of the Wavedrum as you would any other "real" instrument. Have fun with it, play passionately, but keep in mind that it is not just a garbage-can to whack away on. Very Happy

A little finesse will go along way!

This also has happened to me. I've found that it is only when I'm playing more aggressively with sticks and I hit the rim on the upper right hand side. Note to self don't hit there with sticks.

Its happened to me and i have the same observations with the previous posts. glad to see i dont have a faulty Wd, i got it second-hand....

Not noticed it happen since i got a stand... I found the WD to be unplayable on the lap, nothing for the thighs to grip to, so it just slides off eventually.
