Can the vector joystick be applied to any (or all) of the sound modules? |

I believe it can be used as mod source pretty much anywhere, yes. |

Assuming it's the same as on the O, then the answer is yes. _________________ Plugged in: Fantom 8, Jupiter-X, Jupiter 80, System-8, JD-XA, V-Synth GTv2, FA-06, SE-02, JU-06A, TR-09, VT-4, Go:Livecast, Rubix44, Shure SM7b, Push2, Ableton 11 Suite, Sibelius, KRK Rokit 5, |

the joystick is just a x/y joystick, set on midi controllers cc 16 and 17.
So, it will transmit any combination of those two CCs to any engine.
Question is: will those engines do anything significant when receiving those two controllers?
the "Wavestation" engine will use them for vector synthesis control,
but if there's no vector synthesis logic in the engine, you won't be able to "vectorize" - let's say - a rhodes patch.
So:
yes, it will work on any engine (and external synths),
no, having a joystick on the surface doesn't automatically add vector synthesis to any engine, only to VS engines.
Now my qiestion is:
does any kronos engine, besides of the WS emulation, include any VS logic?
My wavestation has one very sweet hammond preset which will have different drawbar presets "mixed" by a combination of mod wheel and joystick. It'll go from a 888888888 full hymn to a 000000008 eerie whistle smoothly.
Nice!
Having that on the b3 emulation would be good (but it requires the engine to be ready for it) |

I think you can even select which CCs will be transmitted with the vector joystick. Essentially it's another controller. Doesn't necessarily have to be used for vectoring... |

I'd suggest having a look at the OASYS manual. Vector works the same in all synth engines. It does two things:
1. Volume control
2. MIDI CC control (CCs work as mod sources on internal sounds too) - can be configured as either two CCs (x and y) or four CCs (cardinal vectors)
In Programs, (1) modulates volume between the two osc/EXi
In Combis and Songs, each Program retains their individual vector envelope and assignments (the CCs go only to the individual Program; they're kept separate internally even if multiple Programs have the same MIDI channel), and then there's an additional vector setup for the Combi/Song as a whole. For the Combi/Song vector, you can assign each Program to the end of a volume control axis, or assign them to not be affected by Vector at all.
It's pretty deep.
