I just got a pair of jbl studio monitors for christmas. On the back the inputs are xlr and rca balanced. Looking at the sv1 manual is says that only the xlr outputs are balanced. So I want to use the balanced out xlr to the balaned in xlr of the monitors. So what type of xlr cables should I use between keyboard and studio monitors. Sorry, I don't know anything about cables, I'm a guitar player. Thanks for the help! |

I honestly think it doesn't matter, just get some XLRs. Avoid the absolute cheapest (for reliability issues rather than for sound issues). And get them plenty long enough. If you buy a pair in different colors you can easily tell which channel you're holding.
Of course, you can also use 1/4 inch cables from those outs if you already have some. _________________ Rodney Sauer

RCA is unbalanced. For going between the SV and a pair of monitors you don't really need balanced. The XLR out's are really hot and sound quite good though, so it's a good choice if you don't have a mixer/preamp.
I use the balanced out's instead of a DI on stage and sound guy's love it (and it sounds way better than crappy DI's you see). I also run my xk-1 into the input so the FOH only needs to worry about a "keyboard" channel. |
