With all the fantastic March offerings, and especially the plethora of songs in the last few days, I was hesitant to offer this one. However, since everyone is here and free to comment.........
This actually was inspired by a true story that happened to me this past month. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did writing and performing it. And as always criticism is much appreciated!
I have upped the words so you can follow along if need be.
Here is "Elisabeth Shue"...uh, the song...not the actress.

I am so glad you posted the lyrics, because it made it much more fun and it's critical to get the full experience here. My first impression was the feel of the Beatles A Day in the Life, Got out of Bed, dragged a comb across my head etc. Yet you don't stay there. I was like watching this funny comedy as the story played out and I was right there, smiling and laughing. I would hate to critique any of the words as even when the rymes sound forced it's so effective and funny that what the hey? I really like your musical production here as well, though I'll have to get over the initial rush of the story to relisten there. I did notice how beautiful your voice sounded and the background vocals are just fabulous. You have a lot of practice with this sort of thing, it shines out on all your work. This is just a stitch and actually a much more serious production than is first thought while laughing at the words and the story. I mean, who has something happen to them like this and it ends up being this big production with backing vocals and the whole shebang. Well, I've done this a few times myself, taking a realife event and making a story out of it, but never to this effect. I just love this. We knew you when, don't forget us little guys when you hit the big time with this solo work. I much love your songs with vocals the best. _________________ George Nelson is 2loose

Geeze Jon, this is unbelievable!
Do I detect a strong Beatles influence here? I think I do!
I can't think of anything to nit pick except maybe, "the world would be a better place without me right now", for some reason that line uhm....just didn't work for me dawg, it was just awrite.
I have to say, I feel very humble right now.
Great work, I really like this!
BTW, I had such a crush on Elizabeth when I was a bit younger.

Excellent.
No suggestions what so ever. Love it (become used to it when listening to your work)
Honestly believe that this song could conquer many radiostations with some promo

Thanks a bunch guys. Yea, I have to admit I am proud of this one. It was a lot of fun to put together. I still have a few small issues with it, but I can iron those out in time. I am just trying to think of a quick video to throw together for YOUTUBE. I already did one, but it needs a lot more pizazz, and all my old connections are just that: old. So no go with a pro level video.

John is becoming our a 'pace setter'; each month seems to start with John posting a quality piece for the month in question and then many of us spending the rest of the month following in his wake, inspired by his example. Or is it just me
So yes, I am impressed I really enjoyed this a great deal, I envy your ability to put together such a really well crafted pop song. I will be listening to this again for kicks and also to ruthlessly steal ideas (woops, said that out loud).
If you wanted to tweak something then maybe the bass (especially near the beginning) might need to be pushed back into the mix a little or have it top end EQ'ed some, because it appeared to me at least to poke through the mix in a way I wasn't expecting. Could just be me !
Oh yeah ... on the lyrical front, like George, you seem to have a great ability to fit words with the meter, and there are no words in the lyric that feel shoehorned in and awkward (something I am particularly sensitive to, as I have said). LOL, never before have I heard the word "doo" being used so mellifluously Great job fitting the words to music and getting the story across.
Thanks for setting a high mark for the month !
Best,
Daz. |

1. I was at a NASCAR race if I remember correctly and this car was there. I saw the keyboard on the back spoiler and thought "maybe I good enough to make music come out of this thing". So I played it.
2. Yes. Maybe we can change that to Misses Solo....and maybe I am a big dreamer!
3. NP. I just fixed it. I had several links there.

Well...I'm back for the upteenth time...,
Sorry..I gotta say it again... this is so ...truly penthouse (location) level...and I just can't believe we are not hearing from you in a major producing area of the country...!!! Maybe thats it...a producer and a big ticket video...we can hire someone...(jus' kiddin').. but it does seem a shame to me that we hear great production of crap everyday...and your stuff is better...
You sure have my respect and support...!!!
Best Regards, !!! John |

Thanks for the listens guys! And the respect is also appreciated. I think at the end of our work days, that is all any of us really want. Ok maybe we want more, but that is a great start.
Maybe Elisabeth will hear it one day!

I've been playing this one for a few days now, and watching the video
First class Jon, the music and it sounds like your voice has fully recovered now, very smooth vocals, and lovely rich harmonies.
I'm glad you put the lyrics up too, it's alway good to read along with the song.
This is such a catchy song, the chorus is well and truely in my head, excellent work!
The question is was it her? _________________ Chordial |

I do agree that your voice sounds great on this. I love how you do the background vocals. Now that I just purchased Melodyne and am playing around with fixing my own pitch problems I may attempt at some live vocalizing such as background oooo-s or ahhhhs and see if I can use my own voice instead of synth pads. I can't stay on pitch though for long so maybe the software will help me do the impossible. _________________ George Nelson is 2loose
